$K_1$-groups via binary complexes of fixed length [PDF]

open access: yesHomology, Homotopy and Applications, 2020
We modify Grayson's model of $K_1$ of an exact category to give a presentation whose generators are binary acyclic complexes of length at most $k$ for any given $k \ge 2$. As a corollary, we obtain another, very short proof of the identification of Nenashev's and Grayson's presentations.

Physicochemical properties of ultrasound-pretreated pea starch and its inclusion complexes with lauric acid

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X, 2023
Ultrasound is a promising green technology for modifying starch. The influence of ultrasound pretreatment (UPT) at diverse temperatures on the morphology and molecular structure of pea starch and its ability to form inclusion complexes with lipids were ...

Crossed Corner and Reduced Simplicial Commutative Algebras

open access: yesJournal of New Theory, 2023
In this paper, we describe the crossed corner of commutative algebras and present the relation between the category of crossed corners of commutative algebras and the category of reduced simplicial commutative algebras with Moore complex of length 2.

Parameterized Complexity of Length-bounded Cuts and Multicuts [PDF]

open access: yesAlgorithmica, 2015
We show that the Minimal Length-Bounded L-But problem can be computed in linear time with respect to L and the tree-width of the input graph as parameters. In this problem the task is to find a set of edges of a graph such that after removal of this set, the shortest path between two prescribed vertices is at least L long.

The complex ecology of genitalia: Gonopodium length and allometry in the Trinidadian guppy

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2021
Male genitalia present an extraordinary pattern of rapid divergence in animals with internal fertilization, which is usually attributed to sexual selection.

Full-Length Transcriptomics Reveals Complex Molecular Mechanism of Salt Tolerance in Bromus inermis L.

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Bromus inermis L. (commonly known as smooth bromegrass) is a grass species with high nutritional value, great palatability, cold tolerance, and grazing resistance, which has been widely cultivated for pasture and sand fixation in northern and ...

Wall slip of complex fluids: interfacial friction or slip length? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Using a dynamic Surface Force Apparatus, we demonstrate that the notion of slip length used to describe the boundary flow of simple liquids, is not appropriate for viscoelastic liquids.

Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex differentiation using gyrB-restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2004
Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) members are causative agents of human and animal tuberculosis. Differentiation of MTBC members is required for appropriate treatment of individual patients and for epidemiological purposes.
