Temporal reliability of length-complexity index

open access: yesJournal of Communication Disorders, 1969
Abstract The purpose of this study was to determine the test-retest reliability of a new measure of children's language, the Length-Complexity Index (LCI). There were seventeen subjects who participated in this study, seven males and ten females. The subjects were five-year-old children attending Kindergarten in the Sullivan, Illinois Public Schools.

Substring Complexities on Run-length Compressed Strings

open access: yes, 2022
Let $S_{T}(k)$ denote the set of distinct substrings of length $k$ in a string $T$, then the $k$-th substring complexity is defined by its cardinality $|S_{T}(k)|$. Recently, $δ= \max \{ |S_{T}(k)| / k : k \ge 1 \}$ is shown to be a good compressibility measure of highly-repetitive strings.

Full-length 16S rRNA gene amplicon analysis of human gut microbiota using MinION™ nanopore sequencing confers species-level resolution

open access: yesBMC Microbiology, 2020
Species-level genetic characterization of complex bacterial communities has important clinical applications in both diagnosis and treatment. Amplicon sequencing of the 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene has proven to be a powerful strategy for the taxonomic ...

The Notable Role of Telomere Length Maintenance in Complex Diseases

open access: yesBiomedicines
Telomere length function serves as a critical biomarker for biological aging and overall health. Its maintenance is linked to cancer, neurodegenerative conditions, and reproductive health.

Effect of Operating Factors on Reliability of Stoping Complexes and Assessment of Reliability of their Elements

open access: yesГорные науки и технологии, 2019
For analyzing the dependence of face equipment failure on its length, two groups of elements are commonly considered. The first group includes all elements of shearer-loaders: conveyor drives, elements of pumping stations of powered supports, supports of

Breaking of scale-invariance symmetry in adsorption processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Standard models of sequential adsorption are implicitly formulated in a {\em scale invariant} form, by assuming adsorption on an infinite surface, with no characteristic length scales.

Telomeres and Telomere Length: A General Overview

open access: yesCancers, 2020
Telomeres are highly conserved tandem nucleotide repeats that include proximal double-stranded and distal single-stranded regions that in complex with shelterin proteins afford protection at chromosomal ends to maintain genomic integrity.

Therapeutic Apheresis for Intravenous Methylprednisolone‐Refractory Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder: Clinical and Radiological Outcomes in a Single‐Center Case Series

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

Depleting components of the THO complex causes increased telomere length by reducing the expression of the telomere-associated protein Rif1p. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Telomere length is regulated mostly by proteins directly associated with telomeres. However, genome-wide analysis of Saccharomyces cerevisiae mutants has revealed that deletion of Hpr1p, a component of the THO complex, also affects telomere length.
