A system for measuring complex permittivity at microwave frequencies

A high-precision microwave system has been built to measure the complex permittivity of small needle-shaped specimens continuously with temperature. The system is based, in part, on the standard cavity perturbation technique, and works at constant input power and frequency to minimise errors due to standing waves.
