On Complex Potentials in Micropolar Elasticity
ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1971AbstractThe aim of this paper is to investigate the possibility of the use of the theory of micropolar continua in the analysis of microcracks. As an initial step of the microfracture mechanics, the complex variable technique of the classical theory of elasticity is extended to the micropolar elasticity. The first fundamental problem of Muskhelishvili,

Potential Carcinostatic Activity of Metal Complexes
1978For several years, there has been considerable controversy about the question of whether certain forms of cancer in humans are caused by viruses. Luria(1) indicated in 1960 that there was already considerable evidence that many tumors have viruses associated with them. In 1966, Kirschner et al.(2) proposed that certain complexes of the heavy transition

Evoked potential analysis by complex demodulation
Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology, 1972Abstract The method of the Fourier transform and that of complex demodulation are compared and contrasted, with special attention devoted to the question of frequency resolution. A computational method is described for complex demodulation. A discussion is given of the relevance of spectral analysis to the study of averaged (visual) evoked responses.

New metal complexes as potential therapeutics
Current Opinion in Chemical Biology, 2003The many activities of metal ions in biology have stimulated the development of metal-based therapeutics. Cisplatin, as one of the leading metal-based drugs, is widely used in treatment of cancer, being especially effective against genitourinary tumors such as testicular.

Accessing thermal conductivity of complex compounds by machine learning interatomic potentials
Physical review B, 2019While lattice thermal conductivity is an important parameter for many technological applications, its calculation is a time-consuming task, especially for compounds with a complex crystal structure.

Use of negative complex potential as absorbing potential
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1998Exact numerical calculation shows that the use of negative complex potential (NCP) significantly improves the efficiency of wavefunction absorption over that of negative imaginary potential (NIP) in scattering applications. The improvement in absorption is especially significant in the case of low energy scattering with de Broglie wavelength larger ...

Analytical expressions for the resonances of the long-range potential (LRP), V(r)=a/r-b/r{sup 2}, as a function of the Hamiltonian parameters were derived by Doolen a long time ago [Int. J. Quant. Chem. 14, 523 (1979)]. Here we show that converged numerical results are obtained by applying the shifted complex scaling and the smooth-exterior scaling ...
