Geodesics in the space of Kahler metrics and volume forms

open access: yes, 2016
We discuss optimal regularity of geodesics in the space of K\"ahler metrics of a compact K\"ahler manifold, as well as the space of volume forms on a compact Riemannian manifold.

Real hypersurface of a complex space form

open access: yesNew Trends in Mathematical Science, 2016
The purpose of the present paper is to give characterization of real hyper- surface of a complex space form. We find conditions for these hypersurfaces to be phi- symmetric and to have eta- parallel curvature tensor. Further we prove totally eta-umbilical real hypersurfaces of complex space forms have xi-parallel Ricci tensor and xi-parallel structure ...

Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...

Synergistic perspectives—How single‐molecule biophysics complement biochemical understanding

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this review, we discuss how ensemble biochemistry and single‐molecule approaches are complementary, outline commonly used single‐molecule techniques, and illustrate their relevance through two representative case studies: chromatin organization by SMC complexes and pathway choice during DNA double‐strand break repair.

Hopf hypersurfaces in pseudo-Riemannian complex and para-complex space forms

open access: yes, 2015
The study of real hypersurfaces in pseudo-Riemannian complex space forms and para-complex space forms, which are the pseudo-Riemannian generalizations of the complex space forms, is addressed.

Functional comparison of EncB and EncC cargo proteins in iron storage within the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Encapsulins are protein nanocompartments that play an important role in iron storage. In the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin system, two cargo proteins called EncB and EncC contribute to iron mineralization. Here, we show that EncB and EncC generate iron‐containing minerals with distinct chemical compositions, suggesting that the composition of stored ...

Totally real minimal immersions of 𝑛-dimensional real space forms into 𝑛-dimensional complex space forms

open access: yes, 1982
n n -dimensional totally real minimal submanifolds of constant sectional curvature in n n -dimensional complex space forms are totally geodesic or flat.

Structural and biochemical analysis of a B12 superbinder

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
BtuG proteins are vitamin B12 scavengers in Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, a dominant human gut bacterium. We present crystal structures of three BtuG homologs bound to cobalamin and its precursor cobinamide, revealing picomolar binding affinities, among the highest known for any natural protein.

An Examination of the Complexity of the Large Sociotechnical Space System

open access: yesAerospace
Complexity has emerged as a global phenomenon with significant implications for the organization and structure of any system. In recent decades, the space system has undergone a transition to a more complex configuration.

Certain Spaces of Functions over the Field of Non-Newtonian Complex Numbers

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
This paper is devoted to investigate some characteristic features of complex numbers and functions in terms of non-Newtonian calculus. Following Grossman and Katz, (Non-Newtonian Calculus, Lee Press, Piegon Cove, Massachusetts, 1972), we construct the ...
