Dynamic Crack Propagation Problems of Fibre-Reinforced Concrete

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2012
Applying the built dynamic crack model of fibre concrete, bridging fiber segment is substituted by loads. When a crack propagates its fiber continues to break.

General criterion for intersection between hydraulic induced fractures and pre-existing natural fractures

open access: yesPetroleum, 2019
Pre-existing natural fractures and other structurally weak planes are usually well-developed in unconventional reservoirs. When such fractures intersect with hydraulic induced fractures, they will redirect and propagate as an important mechanical ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Cracked finite elements proposed for NASTRAN [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
The recent introduction of special crack-tip singularity elements, usually referred to as cracked elements, has brought the power and flexibility of the finite-element method to bear much more effectively on fracture mechanics problems.

Improved status following behavioural intervention in a case of severe dysarthria with stroke aetiology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
There is little published intervention outcome literature concerning dysarthria acquired from stroke. Single case studies have the potential to provide more detailed specification and interpretation than is generally possible with larger participant ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Comparative analysis of clinical, physiological, temperamental and personality characteristics of elderly subjects and young subjects with asthma.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
BackgroundAsthma is a heterogeneous disease of a complex etiology in which genetic, environmental and personality variables are important factors determining the development of complicated strategies related to coping with stress and temperament traits ...

Stress intensity factors computation for bending plates with extended finite element method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The modelization of bending plates with through-the-thickness cracks is investigated. We consider the Kirchhoff–Love plate model, which is valid for very thin plates.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
