Structure and Complexity of Bag Consistency [PDF]
Since the early days of relational databases, it was realized that acyclic hypergraphs give rise to database schemas with desirable structural and algorithmic properties. In a bynow classical paper, Beeri, Fagin, Maier, and Yannakakis established several different equivalent characterizations of acyclicity; in particular, they showed that the sets of ...

Octonion Internal Space Algebra for the Standard Model
This paper surveys recent progress in our search for an appropriate internal space algebra for the standard model (SM) of particle physics. After a brief review of the existing approaches, we start with the Clifford algebras involving operators of left ...

Crystal Structure of a Eukaryotic GEN1 Resolving Enzyme Bound to DNA
We present the crystal structure of the junction-resolving enzyme GEN1 bound to DNA at 2.5 Å resolution. The structure of the GEN1 protein reveals it to have an elaborated FEN-XPG family fold that is modified for its role in four-way junction resolution.

Hierarchical community structure in complex (social) networks [PDF]
The investigation of community structure in networks is a task of great importance in many disciplines, namely physics, sociology, biology and computer science where systems are often represented as graphs.

On the structural complexity of a protein [PDF]
The determination of the configuration of a protein in three-dimensional (3D) space constitutes one of the major challenges in molecular biology research today. A method consists in choosing a protein structure from a database that minimizes an energy function.

The Complexity of Countable Structures [PDF]
Author(s): Harrison-Trainor, Matthew Alexander | Advisor(s): Montalban, Antonio | Abstract: We prove various results about the complexity of countable structures, both computable and arbitrary. We begin by investigating descriptions of countable structures in the infinitary logic Lω1ω.

Research progress of 3D printing PDC and PDC bit
PDC bit has become the preferred type of drill bits in the field of oil and gas exploration. The ever-increasing performance requirements of PDC bits, especially the drilling efficiency, have brought great challenges to the drill bits. The improvement of
