Structural Complexity of DNA Sequence [PDF]
In modern bioinformatics, finding an efficient way to allocate sequence fragments with biological functions is an important issue. This paper presents a structural approach based on context-free grammars extracted from original DNA or protein sequences. This approach is radically different from all those statistical methods.

Spectroscopic-network-assisted precision spectroscopy and its application to water
Precision-spectroscopy techniques can accurately measure lines in constrained frequency and intensity ranges. The authors propose a spectroscopic-network-assisted precision spectroscopy method by which transitions measured in a narrow range provide ...

On the Wake Structure in Streaming Complex Plasmas [PDF]
The theoretical description of complex (dusty) plasmas requires multiscale concepts that adequately incorporate the correlated interplay of streaming electrons and ions, neutrals, and dust grains.

Dimension and the Structure of Complexity Classes
We prove three results on the dimension structure of complexity classes. 1. The Point-to-Set Principle, which has recently been used to prove several new theorems in fractal geometry, has resource-bounded instances. These instances characterize the resource-bounded dimension of a set $X$ of languages in terms of the relativized resource-bounded ...

Simulation Study of Aluminum Alloy Ribbed Member Spinning with Ultrasonic Vibration
Flow spinning process is beneficial to realizing the integral forming of the ribbed members, but the height of the inner rib that can be formed is limited. Therefore, an ultrasonic assisted method was introduced into the flow spinning process to increase

Complex band structure and electronic transmission
The function of nano-scale devices critically depends on the choice of materials. For electron transport junctions it is natural to characterize the materials by their conductance length dependence, $\beta$.

Structure of shells in complex networks
In a network, we define shell $\ell$ as the set of nodes at distance $\ell$ with respect to a given node and define $r_\ell$ as the fraction of nodes outside shell $\ell$. In a transport process, information or disease usually diffuses from a random node

Deformations of calibrated D-branes in flux generalized complex manifolds [PDF]
We study massless deformations of generalized calibrated cycles, which describe, in the language of generalized complex geometry, supersymmetric D-branes in N=1 supersymmetric compactifications with fluxes. We find that the deformations are classified by

Surface defects refer to the local undulation of the parts in the forming process. The variable cross-section and variable-curvature aluminum trim parts are prone to local surface defects during the stretch-bending process, which has a great impact on ...
