Compliance-based dynamic steering for hexapods

2012 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2012
This paper proposes a novel dynamic gait of locomotion for hexapedal robots which enables them to crawl forward, backward, and rotate using a single actuator. The gait exploits the compliance difference between the two sides of the tripods, to generate clockwise or counter clockwise rotation by controlling the acceleration of the robot.

Steering ratio analysis in a vehicle dynamics simulator using a kinematics and compliance correlated mode

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2021
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">The present work aims to analyze the influence of the steering ratio in a vehicle dynamics model. With the purpose of doing this, a multibody model correlated in kinematics and compliance (KnC) parameters to an experimental vehicle was developed.

Time Lag in Handling Responses of Automobiles Induced by Steering/Suspension Compliance or Hysteresis

Volume 7A: 17th Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise, 1999
Abstract This study presents the effect of steering/suspension compliance and hysteresis on the time lag in handling responses of automobiles. A multi-body modeling approach is used to construct the tire, steering, and combined subsystem models. The tire subsystem model focuses on the tire lateral compliance induced time lag.
