Surface Antibacterial Properties of Compomers

European Archives of Paediatric Dentistry, 2006
This was to evaluate the antibacterial properties of four different compomers, using direct contact test (DCT) and agar diffusion test (ADT). Compomers (Polyacid Modified Composite Resin) form a group of dental restorative materials which were developed in order to improve conventional glass-ionomer and are widely used by pediatric dentists in primary ...

Expansion behaviour of compomer restoratives

Biomaterials, 2001
This study measured the dimensional changes due to hygroscopic expansion that occur in five commercially available compomer restorative materials using a computer-controlled laser micrometer. The materials tested were; [C] = Compoglass-F (Vivadent); [D] = Dyract AP (Dentsply DeTrey); [E] = Elan (Kerr); [F] = F2000 (3M); [H] = Hytac (Espe). Twelve discs

Cytotoxic effects of extracts of compomers

Acta Odontologica Scandinavica, 1999
We have studied the cytotoxicity of 10 commercially available compomers. Extracts were taken in cell culture medium of non-cured, freshly-cured, and aged samples. Murine L-929 fibroblasts were exposed to the extracts for 24 h and the cytotoxicity was evaluated using dimethylthiazol diphenyltetrazolium (MTT) assay and neutral red uptake (NRU).

Compomers: between glass-ionomer cements and composites

Biomaterials, 1998
The term 'compomer' was crafted by the producers of the first commercial material of this kind: a polyacid-modified composite resin, sold as a filling material for some specific applications. This term should recall the composite resins and glass-ionomer cements, since some features of these two generic materials are found in the compomers.

Sequencing from Compomers: The Puzzle

Theory of Computing Systems, 2005
The board game FragmindTM poses the following problem: The player has to reconstruct an (unknown) string s over the alphabet $\Sigma$. To this end, the game reports the following information to the player, for every character $x \in \Sigma$: First, the string s is cleaved wherever the character x is found in s.

Dentin shear bond strength of compomers and composites

Dental Materials, 2000
The aim of this study was to compare the shear bond strengths and fracture characteristics of two compomers bonded with a single step bonding agent with two modern composites, a microfil and hybrid, bonded with a fourth generation bonding agent.Freshly extracted human third molars were sectioned parallel to the occlusal surface to expose midcoronal ...

RESIN-BASED COMPOSITES AND COMPOMERS IN PRIMARY MOLARS

Dental Clinics of North America, 2000
Resin-based composite resins and polyacid-modified resin-based composites (compomers) have become popular for the restoration of primary anterior and posterior teeth. In some European countries, resin-based composites or glass-ionomers are the materials of choice for primary teeth because of the controversy over dental amalgam and its alleged adverse ...

Multi-colored dual-cured compomer.

Pediatric dentistry, 2004
A new polyacid-modified resin-based composite (compomer) restorative material has been introduced. Unlike other compomers, this material undergoes both chemical polymerization and photocuring hardening reactions. The new compomer is called MagicFil, and its chief attraction to children is that it is manufactured in 4 different colors, all with glitter ...

Light-polymerized compomers: Coefficient of thermal expansion and microhardness

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2002
The relationship between the filler content, coefficient of thermal expansion, and microhardness of commercial light-polymerized compomers has not been fully investigated. This study evaluated the effect of filler content on the coefficient of thermal expansion and microhardness of 3 commercially available light-polymerized compomers.Five specimens each

Sliding wear of 19 commercially available composites and compomers

Dental Materials, 2004
The aim of this study was to determine the influence of particle size, particle material and morphology on the sliding wear of 19 light curing, commercially available composites (Durafill VS, Metafil CX, Heliomolar RO, Solitaire, Arabesk, Artglass, Charisma F, Pertac II, Charisma, Degufill Ultra, TPH Spectrum, Z100, Tetric classic, Pertac Hybrid ...
