A Component Architecture for LAM/MPI
Lecture Notes in Computer Science, 2003To better manage the ever increasing complexity of LAM/ MPI, we have created a lightweight component architecture for it that is specifically designed for high-performance message passing. This paper describes the basic design of the component architecture, as well as some of the particular component instances that constitute the latest release of LAM ...

Component-Based IS Architecture
Information Systems Management, 2003Advances in distributed architectures and the Internet have had a strong influence on the use of component technologies. The authors discuss the organizational and technical requirements for an effective and economically viable component-based approach.

An architecture for component evolution
Second IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference, 2005. CCNC. 2005, 2005In an evolving object oriented system individual components may change. A system built out of such components needs to be able to use the most recent versions of these components no matter what their source. This paper presents an architecture in which an application will select the most appropriate component version from a variety of sources ...

Component labeling in pyramid architecture
Pattern Recognition, 1993A new pyramid algorithm for labeling connected components of an image is presented. The algorithm uses explicit node to node connections in a pyramid architecture for data transfer operations and does not assume any complex pyramid machine with random access read (RAR) or random access write (RAW) capabilities.

A component architecture for simulator development [PDF]
Research, Development and Engineering applications require the rapid development of simulators, preferably through the reuse of simulator components. In order to facilitate the reuse and exchange of simulator components, research institutes and industry in The Netherlands are collaborating in the SIMULTAAN project.

The impact of component architectures on interoperability
Journal of Systems and Software, 2002Component interoperability has become an important concern as companies migrate legacy systems, integrate COTS products, and assemble modules from disparate sources into a single application. While middleware is available for this purpose, it often does not form a complete bridge between components and may be inflexible as the application evolves. What

The architectural style of component programming
Proceedings Twenty-First Annual International Computer Software and Applications Conference (COMPSAC'97), 2002Component programming is a multiparadigm approach to software construction based on highly generic components. Because component programming is concerned with source-code components, it is assumed by many to be a low-level approach to software development that affects only the development of source code libraries. On the contrary, this paper shows that

An integrated network component architecture
IEEE Software, 1998To deploy large-scale, interactive, distributed systems, we need architectures that support integration of new and existing components and allow dynamic configuration of component connections. The architecture presented in this article builds connection mechanisms into the components, which facilitates composition and the construction of flexible ...
