Analytical Device and Prediction Method for Urine Component Concentrations

open access: yesMicromachines
To tackle the low-accuracy problem with analyzing urine component concentrations in real time, a fully automated dipstick analysis device of urine dry chemistry was designed, and a prediction method combining an image acquisition system with a whale ...

Application of symmetrical component method in protection system of bolter-miner

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2017
In view of problems of low reliability and accuracy of fault diagnosis of asynchronous motor in bolter-miner, symmetrical component method was purposed to apply in protection system of bolter-miner to realize asymmetry over-current fault diagnosis. Three-

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Optimizing Acetabular Component Bone Ingrowth: The Wedge-Fit Bone Preparation Method

open access: yesAdvances in Orthopedics, 2019
We investigate the efficacy of a modified acetabular bone-preparation technique in reducing the incidence of two clinical problems identified in hip resurfacing arthroplasty.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Watermark Detection and Extraction Using Independent Component Analysis Method

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2002
This paper proposes a new image watermarking technique, which adopts Independent Component Analysis (ICA) for watermark detection and extraction process (i.e., dewatermarking). Watermark embedding is performed in the spatial domain of the original image.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A component-based method for developing web applications

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Computación, 2003
We describe, in this paper, a component-based software engineering method for helping development teams to plan, organize, control, and develop web applications.
