Initial Stiffness of Reinforced Concrete Columns with Moderate Aspect Ratios [PDF]
The estimation of the initial stiffness of columns subjected to seismic loadings has long been a matter of considerable uncertainty. This paper reports a study that is devoted to addressing this uncertainty by developing a rational method to determine the initial stiffness of RC columns when subjected to seismic loads.

Stiffness in numerical initial-value problems
This paper reviews various aspects of stiffness and attempts to give a clear definition of this concept. It is shown by a number of examples and analysis that classical results derived without taking stiffness into account can be relevant for certain nonlinear stiff problems but inappropriate for others.

Initial stiffness of integrally-formed GFRP T-joint in GFRP transmission tower [PDF]
It is recognized that the semi-rigidity of the glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) joint should be considered in the structural analysis of GFRP structures, because of the relatively small initial stiffness resulting from the intrinsic property of GFRP

Experimental investigations of steel cold-formed moment-resisting bolted lap joints under monotonic and cyclic loading [PDF]
Joints in cold-formed steel framing structures are usually designed as bolted lap type ones with a gusset plate. Unlike the end-plate joints in hot-rolled structures, the load in such joints is transferred through shearing of the bolts and bearing of the

Effect of Loading Frequency and Temperature on the Fatigue Parameters of Asphalt Concrete [PDF]
Investigating the behavior of asphalt concrete at low loading frequency is essential to understand the thermal fatigue damage due to cyclic day-night temperature cycles, where the loading frequency is usually very low.

Numerical study of a novel bolted moment connection for the beam to column connection using T-shapes and web angle sections [PDF]
Based on the past experience of engineers, welded connections usually do not perform well during earthquakes. Nevertheless, welding is used in all prequalified moment connections in chapter 10 of the National Building Code of Iran and as a result, there ...

In steel structures, unstiffened top and seat angle connections (TSACs) show semi-rigid behavior and transfer both the vertical reaction and some end moment of the beam while also making some degree of rotation.
