Model-Order Reduction of Flexible Multibody Dynamics Via Free-Interface Component Mode Synthesis Method

, 2020
A new method of model-order reduction for the flexible multibody system which undergoes large deformation and rotation is proposed. At first, the flexible multibody system is modeled by absolute nodal coordinate formulation (ANCF), and then, the whole ...

A model‐order reduction framework for hybrid simulation based on component‐mode synthesis

Earthquake engineering & structural dynamics (Print), 2020
Testing of stiff physical substructures (PSs) still poses major technical issues that prevent from adopting hybrid simulation (HS) as a standard structural testing method. Firstly, elastic deformation of reaction frames, as well as the limited resolution

Considering higher-order effects of residual attachment modes in free-interface component mode synthesis method for non-classically damped systems

, 2020
In this paper, by considering higher-order effects of residual attachment modes, a new free-interface component mode synthesis (CMS) method is developed for non-classically damped systems. Firstly, based on the Neumann expansion, the higher-order effects

Component mode synthesis for nonclassically damped systems

AIAA Journal, 1996
Summary: A formulation of a component mode synthesis (CMS) free-interface method is presented and tested on different examples of unforced nonclassically damped systems with symmetric mass, stiffness, and damping matrices. Excellent agreement of the results with the exact ones (unsubdivided systems) is obtained.

Complex component mode synthesis method using hybrid coordinates for generally damped systems with local nonlinearities

, 2020
In numerous engineering structures with local nonlinearities, the nonlinear effects are usually localized and most parts of the structures behave linearly.

Compliant Interface in Component Mode Synthesis

Volume 2: 16th International Conference on Multibody Systems, Nonlinear Dynamics, and Control (MSNDC), 2020
Abstract Substructuring, or component mode synthesis, requires components to share interface regions. When components modeled with rather different, often incompatible levels of refinement need to be connected, correctly defining the interfaces may be important.

An exact component mode synthesis approach

Earthquake Engineering & Structural Dynamics, 1988
AbstractThe paper presents a method for synthesizing the modal properties of substructures to obtain the exact modal properties of a combined structure. Unlike the currently available modal synthesis approaches, the proposed approach does not require the solution of any transformed eigenvalue problem of the combined structure by conventional means. The
