Complex Eigenvalue Analysis of Multibody Problems via Sparsity-Preserving Krylov–Schur Iterations
In this work, we discuss the numerical challenges involved in the computation of the complex eigenvalues of damped multi-flexible-body problems. Aiming at the highest generality, the candidate method must be able to deal with arbitrary rigid body modes ...

Complex eigenvalue analysis and dynamic transient analysis in predicting disc brake squeal
There are typically two different methodologies that can be used to predict squeal in a disc brake, i.e., complex eigenvalue analysis and dynamic transient analysis. The positive real parts of complex eigenvalues indicate the degree of instability of the disc brake and are thought to associate with squeal occurrence or noise intensity.

A Study on the Influence of Dominant Parameters Related to Brake Squeal in the Brake System with the Flexible Pad [PDF]
The brake squeal noise is a high-frequency noise over 1 kHz range generated by the contact between the brake pad and the disk. The purpose of this paper was to investigate the behavior of the squeal noise characteristics of the brake system from an ...

Complex Eigenvalue Analysis for Structures With Viscoelastic Behavior [PDF]
This document deals with a method for eigenvalue extraction for the analysis of structures with viscoelastic materials. A generalized Maxwell model is used to model linear viscoelasticity. Such kind of model necessitates a state-space formulation to perform eigenvalue analysis with standard solvers.
