Sustainable Poly(Lactic Acid)/Graphene Oxide Bioelectronic Platform for Neurotransmitters Sensing and Tunable Stimulation of Astrocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces sustainable PLA/graphene oxide bioelectronic interfaces featuring electrodes with tunable conductivity and strong electrocatalytic performance. These platforms were used to implement a new method for tuning astrocyte Ca2+ signaling and for the efficient detection of key biomarkers.

Simulation support for performance assessment of building components [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The determination of performance metrics for novel building components requires that the tests are conducted in the outdoor environment. It is usually difficult to do this when the components are located in a full-scale building because of the difficulty

Electrical Impact Of Photovoltaic Plant In Distributed Network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper presents the problem of power penetration of photovoltaic (PV) systems in urban networks. After a qualitative problem description, two different environments for PV systems have been analyzed: rural and urban networks.

Defect‐Templated Phase Engineering in Atomically Thin Metals

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene defects are transformed from passive imperfections into programmable templates for phase‐selective growth of atomically thin silver. Plasma‐generated boundary defects favor Ag(1), whereas sp3‐rich zero‐layer graphene promotes Ag(2). This defect‐directed intercalation links local graphene chemistry to crystalline phase, electronic structure ...

Identification and evaluation of the losses occurring in a solar PV system under real field conditions for rural electrification in Humla [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Nepal, which is situated along the solar belt of 30° northern latitude, is blessed with an average of 300 days of sunshine a year. Over the last decade, private companies and local NGOs/INGOs have been increasingly providing electricity services through ...

Moiré‐Induced Symmetry Breaking of Charge Order in van der Waals Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A uniaxial moiré potential in misfit (MS)1+δTaS2 heterostructures selectively reshape charge order: the embedded 1H‐TaS2 layer hosts an incommensurate charge‐density wave, fragmented into nanometer domains and stripped of threefold symmetry. Superconductivity, however, remains uniform and fully gapped, revealing heterosymmetry stacking as a selective ...
