Study on Effects of the Scouring on Horizontal Bearing Capacity of the Composite Bucket Foundation

Volume 10: Ocean Renewable Energy, 2018
Composite bucket foundation is a new kind of wide-shallow foundation for offshore wind turbines, and can be made on land, transported and installed by one step. Compared with other deep pile foundations, the erosion caused by waves and currents is more obvious and this would cause more risks for the overall safety of the wind turbine.

Experimental study on scour around a composite bucket foundation due to waves and current

Ocean Engineering, 2019
Abstract Local scour around foundations is a hot research topic in ocean engineering, especially for shallow composite bucket foundations. In this study, a physical model was developed for the scour induced by waves and current around a composite bucket foundation.

Force transfer characteristics of composite bucket foundation for offshore wind turbines

Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy, 2016
This paper presents a new type of composite bucket foundation (CBF) for offshore wind turbines, which can be adapted to the loading characteristics and development needs of offshore wind farms due to its special structural form. There are seven rooms divided inside the CBF by steel bulkheads, which are arranged in a honeycomb structure.

Bearing capacity and technical advantages of composite bucket foundation of offshore wind turbines

Transactions of Tianjin University, 2011
Based on mechanical characteristics such as large vertical load, large horizontal load, large bending moment and complex geological conditions, a large scale composite bucket foundation (CBF) is put forward. Both the theoretical analysis and numerical simulation are employed to study the bearing capacity of CBF and the relationship between loads and ...

Vertical bearing behaviour of the composite bucket shallow foundation of offshore wind turbines

Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy, 2015
A composite bucket shallow foundation (CBSF) has been proposed by Tianjin University to adapt the offshore soft geological conditions of China for wind turbines. Vertical bearing capacity modelling and observation tests regarding the CBSF are performed.

Bearing capacity of composite bucket foundations for offshore wind turbines in silty sand

Ocean Engineering, 2018
Abstract A composite bucket foundation (CBF) with seven compartments arranged in a similar honeycomb structure is a relatively new type of structure for offshore wind turbines. Field tests were conducted at a natural water pool with a water depth of 0.4 m in saturated silty sand off the coast of Jiangsu to estimate the horizontal bearing capacity of ...

Load Transferring Mechanism on Transition Section of Composite Bucket Foundation for Offshore Wind Turbines

Transactions of Tianjin University, 2017
The composite bucket foundation (CBF) is a new kind of foundation which has been applied in the offshore wind industry. A reasonable connection pattern between the tower and the CBF top cover is crucial for load transmissions from the superstructure. Therefore, it is essential to choose an optimum structure type for the transition section.
