Shear behaviour of composite dowels in transversely cracked concrete

Structural Concrete, 2015
AbstractIn steel‐concrete composite girders, innovative composite dowels can be used to transfer the shear forces between the concrete slab and the steel section. Today, composite dowels are predominately used in engineering structures such as prefabricated composite bridges.

Composite dowels as shear connectors for composite beams – background to the German technical approval

Steel Construction, 2016
AbstractComposite dowels are known as powerful shear connectors in steel‐concrete composite girders. They are being used more and more in practice, especially for prefabricated composite bridges. Compared with headed studs, they provide increased strength. They also exhibit good deformation capacity even in high‐strength concrete. Further, their use in

Anchorage of composite dowels in UHPC under fatigue loading

Structural Concrete, 2016
AbstractIn steel‐concrete composite structures, innovative composite dowels can be used for the connection of ultra‐high‐performance concrete (UHPC) slabs and high‐strength steel members. In addition to sufficient shear capacity, composite dowels have to ensure the transmission of tensile forces in the composite connection in order to prevent lifting ...

The composite resin dowel and core

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1975
T o d a y ' s elnphasis on the maintenance and preservation of the natural dentition, combined with the success of endodontically treated teeth, has resulted in a variety of procedures to restore pulpless teeth. Unfortunately, the exact minimal mechanical and physical properties required for a dowel and core have not yet been defined.

Effect of dowel space preparation and composite cement thickness on retention of a prefabricated dowel

Journal of Prosthodontics, 2002
Purpose This investigation examined what effect cement thickness had on retention of prefabricated endodontic dowels luted with a composite resin cement (Panavia 21 OP; J Morita, Irvine, CA) into canals previously obturated with gutta percha and a eugenol‐based sealer.Materials and Methods Sixty‐four single‐rooted teeth were decoronated, filed, cleaned,

Numerical study of steel–concrete composite beam with composite dowels connectors

Computers & Structures, 2021
Abstract The work presents the parametric study of a steel–concrete composite beam with composite dowel connectors. The designed beam is located in a highly loaded warehouse ceiling with a useful load of 20 kN/m2. In the first part of the work, the best solution of the composite dowel beam was selected from among 7 variants.

In vitro resistance of composite resin dowel and cores

Journal of Endodontics, 1988
In the spectrum of treatment modes of endodontically treated molars, composite dowel and core systems are considered an alternative to the widely used cast dowel and core method. In a laboratory setting under oblique loading with a slowly increasing force, no significant differences between the tested composite dowel and core systems could be detected.

A composite dowel bridge in the Czech Republic

Steel Construction, 2016
AbstractThe floods in the Czech Republic in the last few decades have resulted in a significant number of bridges having to be rebuilt. Unfortunately, the work meant long‐term traffic closures for railway bridges, coupled with significant costs for renovation and for providing alternative transport services.

Composite Dowels in Bridges - Efficient Solution

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
The bridges are vital structures for the transport infrastructure; it is a fact that, in the last decades, composite bridges became a well-liked solution in many European countries as a cost-effective and aesthetic alternative to concrete bridges. Their competitiveness depends on several circumstances such as site conditions, local costs of material ...

Optimization of composite dowels shape in steel-concrete composite floor

Composite Structures, 2019
Abstract The paper contains a numerical analysis of a steel-concrete composite beam with a composite dowel. The connector is a contoured part of the web in a half of the steel section. In the first part of the work, the composite beam was analytically designed in accordance with PN-EN 1994-1-1 standard.
