Hot‐dip galvanized composite dowel strips
Steel Construction, 2016AbstractThis paper presents additional potential for the future economic development of composite dowel strips by using the durable and long‐lasting corrosion protection of hot‐dip galvanization. Based on the completed FOSTA research project P835 [5] on the use of hot‐dip galvanizing for steel and composite bridge construction, the range of ...

An application of the dowel and composite resin core technique
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1974Abstract A technique has been described whereby a stainless steel dowel/composite resin core was fabricated for an endodontically treated abutment tooth having an existing uncemented crown. Previous reports have presented alternate methods, but they require cast gold cores and two appointments.

Lining prefabricated dowel(s) with fibre reinforced resin composite
Australian Endodontic Journal, 2016The study evaluated the adaptation and push-out bond force of two different lined fibre dowels in oval canals. Dowel spaces were prepared in 30 obturated mandibular premolars with oval roots. The samples were divided into three groups (n = 10). The first group received non-lined fibre dowels (NL).

Retention of dowels using conclude composite resin as a luting medium
Dental Materials, 1986Abstract The retention of Dentatus dowel posts in extracted teeth was examined for tensile strength. The Dentatus posts were cemented with “Conclude” luting cement alone or following two applications of Scotchbond Dental Adhesive. Dentatus dowel pins of different diameters were used although the canals were all prepared to the same diameter.

Composite dowels and cores: Effect of moisture on the fit of cast restorations
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1987A study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of interim restorations on the dimensional stability of composite post and core buildups subjected to moisture during the fabrication of cast restorations. Dimensional change associated with composite dowel and core buildups did not significantly alter the fit of cast restorations compared with natural ...

Shear resistance of concrete dowels in composite slim‐floor beams
ce/papers, 2021AbstractSlim‐floor beams offer the significant advantage of shallow floor depths. When combined with deep profiled steel sheeting, for example, being able to route services in‐between the troughs provides flexibility. Despite their advantages, composite slim‐floor solutions are rarely used in buildings, partly due to the lack of codified rules and ...

Field measurements at a composite bridge with composite dowels as shear connectors
2014Within the demonstration project ECOBRIDGE, funded by the Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS), a monitoring program has been developed and applied to survey a composite railway bridge. The stress distribution between concrete and specially designed composite dowels, which have a better fatigue resistance compared to conventional headed studs, has ...

Research on fatigue cracks in composite dowel shear connection
Engineering Failure Analysis, 2011Abstract Last year, extensive research was conducted on a modern type of continuous shear connectors – the composite dowel PreCo-Beam (2001) [1] and innovative composite constructions were designed and built. As this shear connection is to be applied mainly for bridges, problems concerning fatigue behavior arise Berthellemy et al.

Composite Dowels: the Way to the new Forms of Steel-Concrete Composite Structures
IABSE Reports, 2020<p>The introduction of composite dowels in Europe at the beginning of the last decade led to the creation of new forms of composite bridges in which a T-profile is used instead of an I-beam. Both the construction and design methods are new. The paper presents the bridges using this new type of shear connection.

08.60: Composite dowels in cracked concrete Experimental investigation
ce/papers, 2017ABSTRACTIn steel‐concrete composite girders, composite dowel shear connectors can be used to transfer shear forces between the concrete slab and the steel section. In comparison to other shear connectors the composite dowels offer increased strength capabilities, higher deformation capacities both in normal and in high strength concrete and offer an ...
