Shear behaviour of composite dowels in transversely cracked concrete

Structural Concrete, 2015
AbstractIn steel‐concrete composite girders, innovative composite dowels can be used to transfer the shear forces between the concrete slab and the steel section. Today, composite dowels are predominately used in engineering structures such as prefabricated composite bridges.

Anchorage of composite dowels in UHPC under fatigue loading

Structural Concrete, 2016
AbstractIn steel‐concrete composite structures, innovative composite dowels can be used for the connection of ultra‐high‐performance concrete (UHPC) slabs and high‐strength steel members. In addition to sufficient shear capacity, composite dowels have to ensure the transmission of tensile forces in the composite connection in order to prevent lifting ...

Structural behaviour of composite dowels in thin UHPC elements

Steel Construction, 2016
AbstractComposite dowels with different shapes have been developed and used in composite members during the last two decades. At the Chair of Concrete and Masonry Structures at Technical University of Munich (TUM), composite dowels with a clothoid shape are used for filigree composite beams and columns. In both types of application the composite dowels

An application of the dowel and composite resin core technique

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1974
Abstract A technique has been described whereby a stainless steel dowel/composite resin core was fabricated for an endodontically treated abutment tooth having an existing uncemented crown. Previous reports have presented alternate methods, but they require cast gold cores and two appointments.

Economic Composite Constructions for Bridges: Construction Methods Implementing Composite Dowel Strips

2013
Composite dowel strips find a wide application in bridges. They are easy to manufacture and the transmission of shear forces of the composite action is long lasting and robust. Beside the innovative composite action new construction methods for composite bridges are established.

Retention of dowels using conclude composite resin as a luting medium

Dental Materials, 1986
Abstract The retention of Dentatus dowel posts in extracted teeth was examined for tensile strength. The Dentatus posts were cemented with “Conclude” luting cement alone or following two applications of Scotchbond Dental Adhesive. Dentatus dowel pins of different diameters were used although the canals were all prepared to the same diameter.

Field measurements at a composite bridge with composite dowels as shear connectors

2014
Within the demonstration project ECOBRIDGE, funded by the Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS), a monitoring program has been developed and applied to survey a composite railway bridge. The stress distribution between concrete and specially designed composite dowels, which have a better fatigue resistance compared to conventional headed studs, has ...

Behavior of Timber-Steel Composite with Dowel Connection under Fire

Key Engineering Materials, 2019
Recently, a hybrid structure called Timber-Steel Composite (TSC), which is assembled by a central steel I beam with wooden block covered, is expected to introduce a potential strength for the design of modern wooden structure. However, information on this type of structure under the influence of fire is not yet sufficiently explicit to provide ...

Composite Dowels: the Way to the new Forms of Steel-Concrete Composite Structures

IABSE Reports, 2020
<p>The introduction of composite dowels in Europe at the beginning of the last decade led to the creation of new forms of composite bridges in which a T-profile is used instead of an I-beam. Both the construction and design methods are new. The paper presents the bridges using this new type of shear connection.
