Low Melting Point Glass Powder (glass) used as an Additive to Zr0.88Y0.08Eu0.04O2-α (ZYE) Electrolyte for Intermediate Temperature SOFCs

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2018
In this study, Eu3+ and Y3+ double doped ZrO2, that is Zr0.88Y0.08Eu0.04O2-α (ZYE) electrolyte was synthesized by the chemical precipitation method. The low melting point glass powder (glass) was used as an additive to ZYE electrolyte for intermediate ...

Insights into the Nature of Synergistic Effects in Proton-Conducting 4,4−1H,1H-Bitriazole-Poly(ethylene oxide) Composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A nitrogen-containing heterocycle (NCH), 4,4-1H-1H-bi-1,2,3-triazole (bitriazole), capable of mimicking the hydrogen bonding of water in the solid state is synthesized and its ability to conduct protons in the presence of poly(ethylene oxides) under ...

Composite Electrolytes for Supercapacitors

open access: yesEnergy Storage and Applications
Composite electrolytes for applications in electrochemical energy technology, i.e. in batteries and supercapacitors, are gaining increasing attention. In the absence of a commonly accepted definition a ternary combination of materials, e.g. a polymer with an electrolyte salt or electrolyte salt solution and a third conductivity-enhancing constituent ...

Ionic thermopower of composite electrolytes

open access: yes, 1999
The ionic thermopower of solid electrolyte composites which are composed of a solid electrolyte and an electrically insulating inert phase is analyzed. For a stoichiometric model system AX with Frenkel disorder in the cation sublattice we derive formal relations within a lattice point defect model for the change in ionic thermopower on dispersing the ...

Corrosion and Process Analysis of a Preoxidized MgO Recyclate‐Based Cermet Anode in Laboratory‐Scale Na‐Cryolite Molten Salt Electrolysis of Aluminum at 1000°C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
EDX elemental map of the pre‐oxidized MgO–steel cermet anode cross section after electrolysis. The development of inert anodes for aluminum electrolysis remains challenging due to the high corrosivity of cryolite‐based melts at 950°C–1000°C. This study investigates the corrosion and process behavior of a carbon‐free MgO–steel cermet anode derived from ...

Raman Spectroscopic Identification of Oxide Phases in a Corroded MgO–Steel Composite Anode Used in Aluminum Molten Salt Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Micro‐Raman spectroscopy is applied to characterize corrosion products in a recycled‐based MgO–316L steel composite anode after molten salt electrolysis. A depth‐dependent Fe–O/Fe–Al–O layer sequence of magnetite, hercynite, and an Al‐doped magnetite transition zone is identified.

Oxygen semipermeable solid oxide membrane composites prepared by electrochemical vapor deposition [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Ceramic membrane composites consisting of a coarse porous -alumina or two-layer porous alumina membrane support and an oxygen semipermeable gas tight thin (0.2–5 μm) yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) film are prepared by the electrochemical vapor ...

Resistance Rapid Heating of Aluminum Coatings in an Extreme High Vacuum–Adequate Atmosphere for Hot Stamping

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The subject of this work is the development of a corrosion‐protective coating on steel sheets for form hardening. Rapid heating in an extreme high vacuum (XHV)‐adequate atmosphere is a useful method to prevent oxidation during alloying of 22MnB5 and aluminum to obtain a metallurgical bonding.

Solid acid proton conductors: from laboratory curiosities to fuel cell electrolytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The compound CsH2PO4 has emerged as a viable electrolyte for intermediate temperature (200–300 °C) fuel cells. In order to settle the question of the high temperature behavior of this material, conductivity measurements were performed by two-point AC ...
