Achieving planar plasmonic subwavelength resolution using alternately arranged insulator-metal and insulator-insulator-metal composite structures [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2015
This work develops and analyzes a planar subwavelength device with the ability of one-dimensional resolution at visible frequencies that is based on alternately arranged insulator-metal (IM) and insulator-insulator-metal (IIM) composite structures. The mechanism for the proposed device to accomplish subwavelength resolution is elucidated by analyzing ...

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Geometric phases and Wannier functions of Bloch electrons in 1-dimension

open access: yes, 2004
We present a formal expression for Wannier functions of composite bands of 1-D Bloch electrons in terms of parallel-transported Bloch functions and their non-Abelian geometric phases. Spatial decay properties of these Wannier functions are studied in the

Rational Fine‐Tuning of MOF Pore Metrics: Enhanced SO2 Capture and Sensing with Optimal Multi‐Site Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A pore tuning strategy to amplify the multi‐site MOF‐SO2 interactions is proposed to achieve an enhanced trace SO2 capture and chemiresistive sensing in highly stable isostructural DMOFs by annelating benzene rings. This work provides a facile strategy to achieve tailor‐made stable MOF materials for specific multifunctional applications.

Magnetic field driven metal-insulator phase transition in planar systems

open access: yes, 2002
A theory of the magnetic field driven (semi-)metal-insulator phase transition is developed for planar systems with a low density of carriers and a linear (i.e., relativistic like) dispersion relation for low energy quasiparticles.

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

Intensification of Electric Field Stresses in Field Aged 380-kV Composite Insulators Due to Loss of Hydrophobicity

open access: yesIEEE Access
Polymer based composite high voltage insulators (HVIs) due to their hydrophobic surfaces have consistently outperformed the traditional ceramic insulators in highly contaminating coastal-desert environments.

Design and Test of 500-kV Lightning Protection Insulator

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In this paper, based on insulation coordination and simulation, a lightning protection composite insulator is proposed, made up of an insulation part and an arrester part connected in series, whose length is close to that of the standard composite ...

Co-operative Kondo Effect in the two-channel Kondo Lattice

open access: yes, 1998
We discuss the possibility of a co-operative Kondo effect driven by channel interference in a Kondo lattice where local moments are coupled to a single Fermi sea via two orthogonal scattering channels. In this situation, the channel quantum number is not
