Nonlinear Deformation of Laminated Composites
Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1989A method is presented for the nonlinear analysis of an element of a laminated composite using the Ramberg‐Osgood stress‐strain relation and considering transverse shear, degradation of elastic moduli due to fracture, and deformation theory of plasticity generalized for anisotropic inelastic material.

Analytical modelling of laminated composites
Composites Science and Technology, 1993This paper presents a unique approach to the analysis of thick laminated composites by presenting two simple finite element methods. The first uses the predictor corrector technique to extend the simple Mindlin-type element to achieve greater accuracy, and the second develops a new least squares element which can approximate a C(1) continuous element ...

Laminate theory: macroanalyses of composite laminates
1993It has been shown in chapter 2 that composite materials are manufactured as laminates, consequently in analysing the lamina, the primary aim is to obtain predictions of the average behaviour of the composite from the properties of the components. From the point of view of the mechanical properties of the composite lamina, the area of interest to the ...

Thermal Response in Laminated Composites
ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1975AbstractA semi‐infinite laminated composite in which the matrix and filler material are aligned parallel to the heat propagation direction is considered. At x = 0, there is applied a harmonic boundary heat flux of y‐periodicity conforming to the periodicity of the layered composite. The Fourier integral solution is decomposed into normal modes.

Dynamic characteristics of composite laminates
Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1972An exact solution for the vibration of elastic composite laminates in cylindrical bending is presented. Dispersion curves for multi-layer symmetrical and unsymmetrical laminates with materials possessing high and low degrees of anisotropy at various fiber orientations are compared with those obtained from an approximate shear deformation theory.

Acoustic Emission in Composite Laminates
Journal of Nondestructive Evaluation, 1998The response of a laminated plate to internal acoustic emission events is examined in detail. The plate consists of four layers of a unidirectional fiber composite material arranged in a cross-ply configuration. The sources considered include a vertical line couple, a horizontal line couple and a line double couple without moment.

Finishing of Composites and Laminates
Dental Clinics of North America, 1989Regardless of the color, shape or attention to detail, there must be sufficient time to adequately finish all restorations. Both esthetics and function can best be satisfied when the restoration acquires its maximal finish. In the final analysis, not only will the restoration look better, but it will look better for a longer period of time.

INTELLIGENT TAILORING OF COMPOSITE LAMINATES
Carbon, 1989Abstract A number of major failure modes in epoxy-matrix composites are reviewed including free edge opening mode delamination, free edge interlaminar shear controlled laminate failure, and impact damage. Methods for suppressing these failure modes through various laminate tailoring techniques are discussed.

Optimum Design of Laminated Composite Plates Using Lamination Parameters
AIAA Journal, 1991When laminated composite plates are symmetric and orthotropic, their in-plane and flexural stiffnesses become the functions of the lamination parameters that are the functions of their stacking sequences. We use the lamination parameters as fundamental design variables in designing laminates. The feasible region of the lamination parameters is obtained
