Energetic water compositions as rocket propellants
Acta Astronautica, 2021Abstract New results of experimental and theoretical research of ignition and combustion of energetic water compositions used as environmentally safe (green) propellants for rocket and other internal combustion engines are presented. The theoretical assessment of the thermodynamic effect of water additives to fuels depending on the characteristics of

Numerical modeling of composite propellant combustion
Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1998An innovative 2-D numerical model of composite propellant combustion is proposed. It takes into acount the detailed description of the propellant topology, five chemical reactions, gas molecular diffusion, and heat transfer in the gas phase. Partial differential equations are numerically solved introducing a topological matrix.

Oscillatory burning of solid composite propellants
Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1963Analytical consideration of the interaction of an oscillatory pressure disturbance with the burning zone of a composite propellant leads to the conclusion that acoustic waves induce periodic variations in the ratio of the mass release rates of composite propellant components that give rise to harmonic composition and adiabatic flame temperature ...

Optimized Design of Composite Propeller
Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures, 2004ABSTRACT Traditional propellers are made of high-stiffness metal material. They deform only slightly and are usually designed to work at a constant speed, operating at reduced efficiency at other speeds. This research designs a composite propeller that operates over a wider range of speeds.

Extruded composite propellant technology development
Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 1984This paper discusses the development of technology for the production of extruded composite propellant formulations. These formulations are based on thermoplastic elastomers and curable polymer gumstocks as the propellant binder, and utilize ammonium perchlorate as the primary oxidizer.

Modelling of composite propellant properties
36th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference and Exhibit, 2000State-of-the-art composite propellants are based on solid particles (AP, Aluminium) in a polymeric HTPB based binder system. The usability of a propellant for a particular application is dependent on a large number of properties. These different properties sometimes result in contradictory requirements and design trade-off need to be made.

Simulation of Composite Propellant Aging
Polymer-Plastics Technology and Engineering, 1993Abstract Inert polyurethane (PU)-glass elastomeric composites were fabricated to simulate the mechanical behavior of composite propellant systems. A polyether PU system was used in conjunction with 60 wt%, 20 μm glass beads. The mechanical and interfacial properties of model systems were evaluated as a function of time and temperature, using Instron ...

Evaluation of Composite Mold for Small Composite Propeller
Transactions of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers A, 2013The feasibility of substituting a composite mold for an aluminum mold in the fabrication of a small ship propeller was investigated. A small three-blade aluminum propeller was used as a plug for manufacturing the composite mold. A GRPG composite mold and propeller were made from an unsaturated polyester resin, Epovia gelcoat, and woven and mat glass ...
