Expanding the Fish‐Brain Invitrome With the Senegalese Sole SsB‐1 Cell Line—A Versatile Model for Neurotropic Virus Research

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cell lines are essential tools for studying animal physiology and immunopathology, reducing the use of live animals and supporting the 3Rs principle of reduction, refinement, and replacement. The Senegalese sole (Solea senegalensis), a relevant species for Spanish aquaculture diversification, lacks established in vitro models. We developed SsB‐

Serotypic and Genomic Diversity of Vibrio anguillarum in Rainbow Trout Farms in Turkey: Implications for Vibriosis Control and Vaccine Candidate Selection

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Outbreaks of vibriosis caused by Vibrio anguillarum are a persistent constraint on rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) aquaculture. However, information on the population structure of field strains in Turkey has been lacking. Here, we report the first systematic serotypic, proteomic, and genomic characterization of 23 V.

Evaluation of Torula Yeast (Candida utilis) Single Cell Proteins as a Partial Replacement for Soybean Meal in Broiler Diets: Effects on Productive Performance, Meat Quality Traits, and Plasma Metabolome

open access: yesJournal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Over recent years the use of yeast in feedstuffs has gained momentum due to novel developments in single‐cell proteins (SCPs). SCPs are considered a sustainable protein source, as their production enable to convert low‐value substrates (including industrial/agricultural wastes) into feed, with a related reduced environmental impact. Geographical distribution of Hyalomma marginatum Koch, 1844 in northwestern Spain from 2019 to 2024: A one health approach

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, EarlyView.
This study confirms the presence of the tick Hyalomma marginatum Koch, 1844, a known vector of the Crimean‐Congo hemorrhagic fever virus at Galicia. Most ticks were encountered on humans and livestock, with numbers rising between 2019 and 2024, especially during spring and in warm‐summer Mediterranean southwest areas of the studied region.
