A Morphological Approach To ɲԑ “eye”-compounds In Bamanankan

open access: yesThe Journal of Studies in Language, Culture and Society, 2021
This paper explores the extent to which lexical compounds are formed from the head ɲԑ (eye) in Bamanankan, a major language spoken in Mali. The study is guided by Vydrine’s (1999) construct of the classification of parts of speech in Bamanankan.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Functional Heterogeneity of Nociceptin/Orphanin Fq Receptors Revealed by ( +)-5a Compound and Ro 64-6198 in Rat Periaqueductal Grey Slices

open access: yes, 2012
The nociceptin/orphanin FQ (N/OFQ) peptide (NOP) receptor is a non-opioid branch of the opioid receptor family implicated in several neurological and psychological disorders, such as pain, anxiety, depression, involuntary movement, addiction, seizure and

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

NANOSTRUCTURAL MECHANICALLY ALLOYED DISPERSION STRENGTHENED MATERIALS BASED ON METALS

open access: yesВесці Нацыянальнай акадэміі навук Беларусі: Серыя фізіка-тэхнічных навук, 2018
Development of modern industries requires creation of new materials, which have, along with special properties, high strength and heat resistance. The most difficult is the provision of the latter.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

BAYESIAN ANALYSIS OF THE COMPOUND COLLECTIVE MODEL: THE NET PREMIUM PRINCIPLE WITH EXPONENTIAL POISSON AND GAMMA–GAMMA DISTRIBUTIONS [PDF]

open access: yes
This article develops a Bayesian analysis of the Compound Collective Model utilizing the Net Premium Principle, considering single-period models. With respect to likelihoods, we used a Poisson distribution for the number of claims and an Exponential ...
