Crystal Structure of the Sodium Cobaltate Deuterate Superconductor NaxCoO2o4xD2O (x=1/3)
Neutron and x-ray powder diffraction have been used to investigate the crystal structures of a sample of the newly-discovered superconducting sodium cobaltate deuterate compound with composition Na0.31(3)CoO2o1.25(2)D2O and its anhydrous parent compound ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Investigations on composition and morphology of electrochemical conversion layer/titanium dioxide deposit on stainless steel [PDF]
In this study, the formation and characterization of conversion coatings modified by a sol-gel TiO2 deposit were investigated as a way to develop a new photocatalyst for water and air depollution.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

III-V photocathode with nitrogen doping for increased quantum efficiency [PDF]
An increase in the quantum efficiency of a 3-5 photocathode is achieved by doping its semiconductor material with an acceptor and nitrogen, a column-5 isoelectronic element, that introduces a spatially localized energy level just below the conduction ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Improved switching performance of magnetic tunnel junctions with Heusler compounds by insertion of resistive layers [PDF]
The chemical templating layer (CTL) is ideally suited to grow ordered multicomponent Heusler compounds at temperatures compatible with complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor technology and at thickness necessary for their implementation as storage ...

A novel hybrid framework for metabolic pathways prediction based on the graph attention network
Background Making clear what kinds of metabolic pathways a drug compound involves in can help researchers understand how the drug is absorbed, distributed, metabolized, and excreted. The characteristics of a compound such as structure, composition and so
