Partial compute-compress-and-forward for limited backhaul uplink multicell processing

2015 53rd Annual Allerton Conference on Communication, Control, and Computing (Allerton), 2015
We study the transmission over a cloud radio access network, in which multiple base stations (BS) are connected to a central processor (CP) via finite-capacity backhaul links. Focusing on maximizing the allowed sum-rate, we develop a lattice based coding scheme that generalizes both compute-and-forward and successive Wyner-Ziv coding for this model ...

Multi-level compress and forward coding for half-duplex relays

2012 IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM), 2012
This paper presents a multi-level compress and forward coding scheme for a three-node relay network in which all transmissions are constrained to be from an M-ary PAM constellation. The proposed framework employs a uniform scalar quantizer followed by Slepian-Wolf coding at the relay.

Decode-Compress-and-Forward with Selective-Cooperation for Relay Networks

IEEE Communications Letters, 2012
We propose a new signal-processing scheme, referred to as Decode-Compress-and-Forward with Selective-Cooperation (DCF-SC). In DCF-SC, the relay dedicates a certain amount of time to listen to the message broadcasted by the source and then performs Soft-Input Soft-Output (SISO) decoding.

A Novel Quantization Scheme in Compress-and-Forward Relay System

VTC Spring 2009 - IEEE 69th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2009
In this paper, we extend a well-developed quantization scheme to block fading relay system using compress-and-forward and propose a new achievable rate based quantization scheme (ARBQS). A new signal combination scheme with less complexity is also proposed accordingly.

Decode-compress and forward relay: AWGN and constellation constrained channels

2017 IEEE 28th Annual International Symposium on Personal, Indoor, and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC), 2017
Even though there exists a lot of different transmission techniques, the capacity of the general relay channel is still unknown. This paper shows that combining decode-and-forward (DF) with compress-and-forward (CF) can have a performance advantage over each of the two techniques individually.

Compress-and-Forward Relaying: Prototyping and Experimental Evaluation Using SDRs

2016 IEEE 84th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC-Fall), 2016
This paper presents a prototype implementation and experimental performance evaluation of compress- and-forward (CF) relaying using software-defined radios. Under QPSK transmissions from all nodes, the relay demodulates the received signal before applying distributed joint source-channel coding (DJSCC) implemented with the help of an off-the- shelf ...

Full-Duplex Compress-and-Forward Relaying Under Residual Self-Interference

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2018
This letter investigates full-duplex (FD) compress-and-forward (CF) relaying under residual self-interference (RSI) at the relay. Modeling the RSI as a zero-mean additive white Gaussian signal with power proportional to the relay transmit power, we determine the achievable rates of FD-CF and show that it is not always best for the relay to utilize all ...

Compress-and-forward strategy for the relay channel with causal state information

2009 IEEE Information Theory Workshop, 2009
In this paper, we consider a discrete memoryless state-dependent relay channel with non-causal Channel State Information (CSI). We investigate three different cases in which perfect channel states can be known non-causally: i) only to the source, ii) only to the relay or iii) both to the source and to the relay node.

An adaptive rate compress-and-forward cooperation for virtual-MIMO systems

2010 Second UK-India-IDRC International Workshop on Cognitive Wireless Systems (UKIWCWS), 2010
A practical virtual multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system that implements compress-and-forward (CF) cooperation is proposed in this paper. Bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) technique is implemented here to provide forward error correction and improve the system performance.

A practical compress-and-forward relay scheme based on superposition coding

2012 IEEE 14th International Conference on Communication Technology, 2012
Compress and forward (CF) is one of the protocols in cooperative communication and has drawn much attention. In CF scheme, the relay compresses and transmits the received signals to the destination, where Wyner-Ziv coding is considered as an efficient way to compress the signal with side information available.
