Decode-compress and forward relay: AWGN and constellation constrained channels

2017 IEEE 28th Annual International Symposium on Personal, Indoor, and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC), 2017
Even though there exists a lot of different transmission techniques, the capacity of the general relay channel is still unknown. This paper shows that combining decode-and-forward (DF) with compress-and-forward (CF) can have a performance advantage over each of the two techniques individually.

Path compression in forwarding-based reliable mobile agent communications

2003 International Conference on Parallel Processing, 2003. Proceedings., 2003
We concern with the design of efficient algorithms for mobile agent communications. We first describe a novel mailbox-based scheme for flexible and adaptive message delivery in mobile agent systems and a specific adaptive protocol derived from the scheme. Then we present the design and verification of a path compression and garbage collection algorithm

Compress-and-Forward Relaying: Prototyping and Experimental Evaluation Using SDRs

2016 IEEE 84th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC-Fall), 2016
This paper presents a prototype implementation and experimental performance evaluation of compress- and-forward (CF) relaying using software-defined radios. Under QPSK transmissions from all nodes, the relay demodulates the received signal before applying distributed joint source-channel coding (DJSCC) implemented with the help of an off-the- shelf ...

Compress-and-forward strategy for the relay channel with causal state information

2009 IEEE Information Theory Workshop, 2009
In this paper, we consider a discrete memoryless state-dependent relay channel with non-causal Channel State Information (CSI). We investigate three different cases in which perfect channel states can be known non-causally: i) only to the source, ii) only to the relay or iii) both to the source and to the relay node.

Partial compute-compress-and-forward for limited backhaul uplink multicell processing

2015 53rd Annual Allerton Conference on Communication, Control, and Computing (Allerton), 2015
We study the transmission over a cloud radio access network, in which multiple base stations (BS) are connected to a central processor (CP) via finite-capacity backhaul links. Focusing on maximizing the allowed sum-rate, we develop a lattice based coding scheme that generalizes both compute-and-forward and successive Wyner-Ziv coding for this model ...

Virtual-MIMO systems with compress-and-forward cooperation

2012
Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems have recently emerged as one of the most significant wireless techniques, as they can greatly improve the channel capacity and link reliability of wireless communications. These benefits have encouraged extensive research on a virtual MIMO system where the transmitter has multiple antennas and each of the ...
