Decode-Compress-and-Forward with Selective-Cooperation for Relay Networks

IEEE Communications Letters, 2012
We propose a new signal-processing scheme, referred to as Decode-Compress-and-Forward with Selective-Cooperation (DCF-SC). In DCF-SC, the relay dedicates a certain amount of time to listen to the message broadcasted by the source and then performs Soft-Input Soft-Output (SISO) decoding.

A Novel Quantization Scheme in Compress-and-Forward Relay System

VTC Spring 2009 - IEEE 69th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2009
In this paper, we extend a well-developed quantization scheme to block fading relay system using compress-and-forward and propose a new achievable rate based quantization scheme (ARBQS). A new signal combination scheme with less complexity is also proposed accordingly.

Packet-wise compression and forwarding of industrial network captures

2017 9th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems: Technology and Applications (IDAACS), 2017
Network traffic captures are necessary for a variety of security applications like identification of malicious patterns or training of intrusion detection systems. While monitoring of enterprise networks is common practice, it is rarely done for industrial production environments due to low bandwidth, confidential production data and sensitive legacy ...

A decoding procedure for compress-and-forward and quantize-and-forward relaying

2012 50th Annual Allerton Conference on Communication, Control, and Computing (Allerton), 2012
In this paper, a decoding procedure is developed for both the compress-and-forward (CF) and the short message quantize-and-forward (QF-SM) relaying schemes. This procedure is based on exploiting a common feature of the mapping used by both schemes to determine the relay output from the estimate of its input.

An Optimality-Robustness Tradeoff in the Compress-and-Forward Relay Scheme

2010 IEEE 72nd Vehicular Technology Conference - Fall, 2010
The compress-and-forward relay scheme developed by (Cover and El Gamal, 1979) is modified by realizing that it is not necessary for the destination to decode the compressed observation of the relay; and even if the compressed observation is to be decoded, it can be more easily done by joint decoding with the original message, rather than in a ...

Compressing IP forwarding tables with fast and bounded update

2015 IEEE 23rd International Symposium on Quality of Service (IWQoS), 2015
The size of Forwarding Information Base (FIB) maintained at backbone routers is experiencing an exponential growth, and various solutions have been proposed in the literature. The main shortcoming of FIB compression is the update overhead. Only when the update speed of FIB compression algorithms is sufficiently fast and bounded, the probability of ...

Multi-level compress and forward coding for half-duplex relays

2012 IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM), 2012
This paper presents a multi-level compress and forward coding scheme for a three-node relay network in which all transmissions are constrained to be from an M-ary PAM constellation. The proposed framework employs a uniform scalar quantizer followed by Slepian-Wolf coding at the relay.

On the Performance of Compressed Interference Forwarding for Uplink Base Station Cooperation

GLOBECOM 2009 - 2009 IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference, 2009
The capacity of today's cellular mobile communications systems is mainly limited by inter-cell interference. Multi-cell joint transmission or joint detection schemes are means to overcome this limitation and to actively exploit signal propagation across cell borders rather than treating it as noise.

A layered detect-compress-and-forward coding scheme for the relay channel

2017 IEEE 28th Annual International Symposium on Personal, Indoor, and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC), 2017
We develop a practical layered detect-compress-and-forward (LDCF) coding framework for a three-node relay network. Assuming all transmissions to be mapped to Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) constellations, the LDCF framework at the relay utilizes maximum-likelihood detection, followed by a multi-level convolutional coding structure to achieve ...

Compress-and-Forward Rates for the Gaussian Relay with ISI and Colored Noise

2010 IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference GLOBECOM 2010, 2010
The achievable rate of a relay channel with inter- symbol interference and additive colored Gaussian noise is examined under an input power constraint and the compress-and-forward (CF) strategy at the relay. Using classical techniques, it is shown that the circular degraded relay channels is equivalent to that of the linear one in the limit of infinite
