Compressed air-brine energy storage

Energy, 1988
Abstract Compressed air-brine energy storage (CABES) is similar to ordinary compressed air energy storage (CAES). However, in CABES, the heat of compression of the air is stored via a surface-type heat exchanger in water or, preferably, concentrated brine contained in an unpressurized reservoir.

Management Strategies for a Compressed Air Energy Storage Plant

Volume 4: Cycle Innovations; Electric Power; Industrial and Cogeneration; Manufacturing Materials and Metallurgy, 2006
Energy storage can balance supply and demand over different time scales, with technical and economical benefits. In the present paper, commercial gas turbines, just modified for storage purposes, are considered. The possibility to improve their profitability in an utility perspective is investigated.

Combining Wind-Driven Air Compression with Underwater Compressed Air Energy Storage

2019 Offshore Energy and Storage Summit (OSES), 2019
Energy storage is quickly becoming a priority in the energy sector as inflexible renewables penetrate further into the energy mix. The opportunity for novel energy storage solutions has therefore never been greater. Generation-Integrated Energy Storage (GIES) holds several key advantages over systems that separate electricity generation and energy ...

Compressed Air Energy Storage Turbo-Machinery

Volume 1A: General, 1978
This paper presents some of the aspects involved in the selection of the thermodynamic cycle for CAES power generating systems. It also presents several of the considerations involved in fitting turbomachinery to the cycle, including arrangement and operation. A typical set of economic criteria is used to illustrate a method of cycle optimization.

Topic: Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES)

2016
With the increasing share of fluctuating renewable energy sources, such as wind power and solar cells, demands for energy storage and load leveling in the electric grid are expanding. For this purpose, hydroelectric and thermal power generations are used.
