Acetoacetates Derived From Vegetable Oils: A Platform for Tailor‐Made Vinylogous Urethane Foams
A renewable vegetable oil is converted into acetoacetate‐functionalized precursors for the preparation of catalyst‐free vinylogous urethane foams. Room‐temperature foaming with n‐pentane generates lightweight cellular materials, while the choice of amine enables control over foam structure and mechanical properties.

Effect of longitudinal compression to bulk cell wall on mechanical properties of steamed treated of beach wood [PDF]
In this study beech wood steamed specimens were compressed longitudinally to bulk cell wall at three levels of 0, 10 and 15 percent relative to their original length, and some mechanical properties including MOE, MOR, E-value, tensile strength, and ...

This work reveals the UV‐curing‐induced monomer‐rich domain, oligomer‐rich domain, and entangled oligomer domain. The cured submicron films in stressed state induce interlayer nano‐wrinkle structures during the deposition of the second layer. Stress‐free cured films in relaxed state form non‐diffusive, diffusive and semi‐diffusive interlayer ...

Pattern matching of compressed terms and contexts and polynomial rewriting [PDF]
A generalization of the compressed string pattern match that applies to terms with variables is investigated: Given terms s and t compressed by singleton tree grammars, the task is to find an instance of s that occurs as a subterm in t. We show that this

Bioinspired Hydrogels with Broadly Programmable Mechanics for Soft‐Tissue Interfaces
Sea cucumber‐inspired gelatin hydrogels are formed by directional freezing and mechanically programmed through subsequent ionic treatment. Multiscale characterization and modeling link ion‐regulated chain interactions to directional load transfer within the aligned hierarchical architecture.

Mechanical properties: wood lumber versus plastic lumber and thermoplastic composites
Plastic lumber and thermoplastic composites are sold as alternatives to wood products. However, many technical standards and scientific studies state that the two materials cannot be considered to have the same structural behaviour and strength. Moreover,
