Practical Compression Methods for Quantized Compressed Sensing [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE INFOCOM 2019 - IEEE Conference on Computer Communications Workshops (INFOCOM WKSHPS), 2019
In order to save energy of low-power sensors in Internet of Things applications, minimizing the number of bits to compress and communicate real-valued sources with a predefined distortion becomes crucial. In such a lossy source coding context, we study rate-distortion (RD) performance of various single-sensor quantized compressed sensing (QCS) schemes ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Experimental study of land subsidence in response to groundwater withdrawal and recharge in Changping District of Beijing.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Over exploitation of groundwater in Changping District of Beijing city has caused serious land subsidence in the past decades. In recent years, the operation of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project has reduced the land subsidence rate. In this paper,

On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.

Blow-up for the compressible isentropic Navier-Stokes-Poisson equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
summary:We will show the blow-up of smooth solutions to the Cauchy problems for compressible unipolar isentropic Navier-Stokes-Poisson equations with attractive forcing and compressible bipolar isentropic Navier-Stokes-Poisson equations in arbitrary ...

Electrochemical Evaluation of Compressed Selective Laser Melted AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg Alloys in Chloride Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The corrosion performance of AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg alloys produced through selective laser melting (SLM) was examined under compressive stress in a chloride environment. Electrochemical analyses, including open‐circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (CPP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were complemented by scanning ...

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

Heat Convection of Compressible Viscous Fluids. I.

open access: yes, 2012
The stationary problem for the heat convection of compressible fluid is considered around the equilibrium solution with the external forces in the horizontal strip domain z_0 < z < z_0 + 1 and it is proved that the solution exists uniformly with

Variable Stiffness Flexure Structures Enabled by Phase‐Change Gallium and Adhesive Interfacial Locking for Soft Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A flexure‐based variable stiffness structure is developed by integrating phase‐change modulation and adhesive interfacial locking of gallium. The design enables a wide stiffness variability, transitioning from soft, flexible behavior to rigid, load‐supporting performance.
