A biomimetic‐structured wood‐derived carbon sponge with highly compressible and biocompatible properties for human‐motion detection

open access: yesInfoMat, 2020
Piezoresistive sensors, as an indispensable part of electronic and intelligent wearable devices, are often hindered by nonrenewable resources (graphene, conventional metal, or silicon). Biomass‐derived carbonaceous materials boast many advantages such as

An optimal order interior penalty discontinuous Galerkin discretization of the compressible Navier-Stokes equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this article we propose a new symmetric version of the interior penalty discontinuous Galerkin finite element method for the numerical approximation of the compressible Navier-Stokes equations.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Modular Critical Element Recycling Platform Using a Nanoporous Additively Manufactured Gyroid

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A modular recycling platform integrates 3D‐printed nanoporous gyroid structures to enable efficient critical element recovery. This system utilizes a hierarchical architecture, combining macroscopic channels with polymerization‐induced nanoscale porosity. By systematically tuning structural wall thickness and resin formulation, the platform achieves an

Compressibility of Breakable Materials.

open access: yes, 2016
This contribution reports on experiments on uniaxial compression of random layers of dry granular materials of various types of anisometric particles. The goal is twofold. First, to characterize their compressibility features for their classification. Second, to select a suitable material for further breakage studies that can be compared with numerical

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Forced Vibration Analysis of a Hydroelastic System with an FGM Plate, Viscous Fluid, and Rigid Wall Using a Discrete Analytical Method

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This study examines the forced vibration behavior of a hydroelastic system composed of a functionally graded material (FGM) plate, a barotropic compressible Newtonian viscous fluid, and an adjacent rigid wall. The fluid occupies the gap between the plate
