Peripheral Neutrophil Activation and Extracellular Trap Formation in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
Markers of neutrophil activation are increased in plasma during ALS, and markers of NET formation associate with ALS survival. ABSTRACT Objectives Peripheral neutrophil levels in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) inversely correlate with survival, suggesting a role for neutrophils in disease progression.

Compressible operators and the continuity of homomorphisms from algebras of operators [PDF]
Summary: The notion of a compressible operator on a Banach space \(E\) derives from automatic continuity arguments. It is related to the notion of a Cartesian Banach space. The compressible operators on \(E\) form an ideal in \({\mathcal B}(E)\) and the automatic continuity proofs depend on showing that this ideal is large.

Semantics-Guided and Saliency-Focused Learning of Perceptual Video Compression
In recent years, video compression has emerged as a focal point of considerable interest. Nevertheless, the predominant focus of existing methods lies in the meticulous reconstruction of videos with high fidelity, often at the expense of prioritizing the

ABSTRACT Objective Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) is one of the most debilitating and common muscular dystrophies. Despite its severity, no approved therapy exists for FSHD patients. However, several therapeutic candidates are currently under development, and some have recently entered clinical trials, marking the need for reliable ...

Onasemnogene Abeparvovec in Patients With SMA: Interim Results of the RESTORE Registry in Japan
ABSTRACT Objective There are limited real‐world data regarding the safety and effectiveness of onasemnogene abeparvovec (OA; Zolgensma) infusion, a one‐time gene replacement therapy, for Japanese patients with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). We aimed to improve understanding of the real‐world outcomes for OA in Japan.

Computing the L∞[0,h) -induced norm of a compression operator via fast-lifting
This paper studies computing the induced norm of a compression operator defined on the Banach space L-infinity[0, h), which is a difficult problem since it is an infinite-rank operator. Two methods are provided for this problem, each of which can compute

The New Method of Electroencephalogram Representation
A new method for visualization of electroencephalogram process is developed, using factorial analysis. This method permits data compression and visualization in a form adequate for humans to trace continuous change patterns, compare data from brain ...

The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.
