CIGARCoil: A New Algorithm for the Compression of DNA Sequencing Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
DNA sequencing machines produce tens of thousands to hundreds of millions of reads. Each read consists of letters from the alphabet X= {A, T, C, G, N} and varies in length between 30 to 120 characters and beyond.

Preconditioning of wavelet BEM by the incomplete Cholesky factorization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The present paper is dedicated to the preconditioning of boundary element matrices which are given in wavelet coordinates. We investigate the incomplete Cholesky factorization for a pattern which includes also the coefficients of all off-diagonal bands ...

Fuzzy maximum capacity and occupancy time rate measurements in urban railway lines

open access: yesEuropean Transport Research Review, 2018
Nowadays, railway transport capacity is an important bottleneck for many railway operators that face its ever-increasing demand. This poses a challenge to existing lines as operation under conditions close to saturation tends be unstable.

Feasibility and Tolerability of Performing Portable MRI for Neurological Disorders in an Outpatient Neurology Clinic: A Prospective Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Accessing brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be challenging, especially for underserved patients, which may lead to disparities in neurological diagnosis. Method This mixed‐methods study enrolled adults with one of four neurological disorders: mild cognitive impairment or dementia of the Alzheimer type, multiple sclerosis ...

Predictive Ability of Plasma p‐tau217 for β‐Amyloid Status: A Prospective Multicenter Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Plasma tau phosphorylated at threonine 217 (p‐tau217) measured with fully automated platforms has shown high accuracy for Alzheimer's disease (AD) diagnosis, but real‐world multicenter data remain limited. We aimed to validate the diagnostic performance of p‐tau217 for identifying AD pathology in a real‐world multicenter cohort ...

Compressing LSTM Networks by Matrix Product Operators

open access: yesCoRR, 2020
Long Short Term Memory(LSTM) models are the building blocks of many state-of-the-art natural language processing(NLP) and speech enhancement(SE) algorithms. However, there are a large number of parameters in an LSTM model. This usually consumes a large number of resources to train the LSTM model. Also, LSTM models suffer from computational inefficiency

Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty: a modified technique with greater curvature compression sutures

open access: yesEndoscopy International Open, 2019
Background Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG) is rapidly becoming established as a safe and effective means of achieving substantial weight loss via the transoral route. New ESG suture patterns are emerging.

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

Unbounded dissipative compressed Toeplitz operators

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2004
Let \({\mathcal C}\) be the collection of all closed densely defined linear maps commuting with the adjoint of the compression of the standard unilateral shift on the Hardy space of the unit disc to a shift coinvariant subspace. A linear map \(T\) with the domain \(D(T)\) dense in a Hilbert space is said to be dissipative on \(D(T)\) if \(\langle Tx,x ...

A Self-Adaptive Compression Method for Ship Trajectories without Threshold Setting

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Addressing the shortcomings of existing ship trajectory compression methods that rely on the empirical setting of a fixed threshold and face challenges in controlling the spatial similarity before and after compression, this paper proposes a self ...
