Prevalence and acceptance of therapy with medical compression stockings

open access: yes, 2007
SummaryThe aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of use of medical compression stockings (MCS) in the general adult population in Germany, to comment the indications for which MCS therapy has been described and the patients’ experience with it ...

Bayesian‐Optimized Dual‐Mode Luminescence‐Based Optical Thermometry Enabled by Negative Thermal Expansion in Lu2(MoO4)3:Yb–Er–Tm Phosphor

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A Bayesian optimization framework identifies the ideal composition for Lu2(MoO4)3:Yb–Er–Tm phosphors with minimal experimental trials. By leveraging the host's negative thermal expansion, the material achieves remarkable thermal quenching compensation.

Common peroneal nerve palsy caused by compression stockings after surgery

open access: yes, 2014
Peroneal nerve palsy is one of the more common entrapment neuropathies of the lower limb and can be a result of a multitude of causes. Compression stockings are commonly used for prophylaxis of deep venous thromboembolism after surgery. The entrapment on

Indications for medical compression stockings in venous and lymphatic disorders: An evidence-based consensus statement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Objective Medical compression stockings are a standard, non-invasive treatment option for all venous and lymphatic diseases. The aim of this consensus document is to provide up-to-date recommendations and evidence grading on the indications for treatment,

Effects of Wearing Compression Stockings on Cardiovascular Responses.

open access: yesThe Annals of physiological anthropology, 1994
To investigate the effects of wearing compression stockings on cardiovascular responses, the heart rate (HR), cardiac output (Q) measured by CO2 rebreathing method, and oxygen intake were measured at rest in a supine position for 40 min and standing position for 120 min.

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Movement related variation in forces under compression stockings

open access: yes, 1999
Objectivescompression therapy is widely used in the treatment of venous leg ulcers, but the efficacy of this treatment is variable. Assessment of variation in compression forces associated with movement may help to elucidate the mechanism of action of ...

Molecular Appendix Adjusted Architectural Propagations of Red‐Light Controlled Macroscopic Photoactuating Performances

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Amphiphilic chloroazobenzenes, bearing different amino acids as end groups alanine, phenylalanine, and valine, exhibit excellent photoisomerizations. Varying structures of three amino acid groups participate in supramolecular formations and therefore photoinduced morphological transformations via adjusting intermolecular interactions. These interaction

COMPRESSION PROFILE OF SPORT COMPRESSION STOCKINGS IN RUNNERS

open access: yes, 2017
The purpose of this study was to determine the interface pressure applied using two compressive stockings: medium compression (MC) and strong compression (SC); in three conditions: before, during and after running test.

Chronic venous insufficiency: Prevalence and effect of compression stockings

open access: yes, 2013
IntroductionChronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is a common disease affecting mainly lower limbs leading to significant impact on the quality of life. There is no study, to our knowledge, has attempted to evaluate the impact of compression stockings on ...
