Numerical study of wake and potential interactions in a two-stage centrifugal refrigeration compressor

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2021
Both potential and wake interactions are usually the primary mechanisms related to the unsteadiness in turbomachines. However, it is usually difficult to distinguish their effects on flow evolution.

Mechanotransduction of Magnetically Applied Forces Leads to Mechanical Stiffening of Platelet‐Rich Plugs

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A microfluidic device with magnetic microposts was used to assess platelet mechanobiology. The oscillatory actuation of posts with embedded iron particles was dampened by the dynamic stiffening of the platelet‐rich plugs. This stiffening process increased with applied load, but inhibiting platelet activation (ASA) or myosin contractility (blebbistatin)

Experimental Study of Corner Stall in a Linear Compressor Cascade

open access: yesChinese Journal of Aeronautics, 2011
AbstractIn order to gain a better knowledge of the mechanisms and to calibrate computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools including both Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) and large eddy simulation (LES), a detailed and accurate experimental study of corner stall in a linear compressor cascade has been carried out. Data are taken at a Reynolds number

Self‐Assembled Inorganic Nanomembrane Tubes: Rolled‐Up Piezoelectrics for Microacoustic Wave‐Based Actuators and Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a self‐assembly process to generate free‐standing piezoelectric nanomembranes, forming ultracompact microtubular acoustic wave sensors and actuators. The miniaturized 3D piezoelectric platform reported in this work can be applied in telecommunication, energy harvesting, and acoustofluidics. Moreover, the 3D self‐assembly can add

Field‐Programmed Anisotropy in Magneto‐Piezoelectric Composites for Material‐Encoded Mechanoperception

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Field‐programmed anisotropy imparts material‐level intelligence to soft composites. Magnetic torque dynamics drive magneto‐piezoelectric nanowires from random dispersion into deterministic axial alignment. The resulting hierarchical percolation networks confine electromechanical coupling to specific axes and intrinsically decouple superposed force ...
