MORE RESERVOIRS OR TRANSFERS? A COMPUTABLE GENERAL EQUILIBRIUM ANALYSIS OF PROJECTED WATER SHORTAGES IN THE ARKANSAS RIVER BASIN [PDF]
A computable general equilibrium model of the southeastern Colorado economy is used to compare the economic impacts of a proposed increase in reservoir storage to an alternative: temporary water transfers.

Gd‐doped BFO (BGFO) exhibits a ∼2‐order reduction in leakage current owing to its lowest content of oxygen vacancies. This leads to a ∼2.5‐fold increase in remnant polarization. These improvements in BGFO effectively boost charge separation and transportation, resulting in the greatest incident photon‐to‐current efficiency of 12.9 ± 0.73% and a ∼1.5 ...

Guided by the golden ratio, a class of aperiodic architected metamaterials is introduced to address the intrinsic trade‐off between strength and toughness. By unifying local geometric heterogeneity with global order, the golden‐ratio‐guided aperiodic architecture promotes spatial delocalization of damage tolerence regions, leading to more tortuous ...

Tariffs in New Zealand : The economic impacts of retaining tariffs in New Zealand A dynamic CGE analysis [PDF]
The government announced in late 2009 that it would freeze tariffs at current levels until 2015 at the earliest. We examine the potential costs and benefits to the New Zealand economy of this policy decision using a recently-developed dynamic computable ...

Thermoelectric temperature sensors are developed that directly measure heat changes during optical‐based neural stimulation with millisecond precision. The sensors reveal the temperature windows for safe reversible neural modulation: 1.4–4.5 °C enables reversible neural inhibition, while temperatures above 6.1 °C cause permanent thermal damage.
