Recognition of the lumbar spine using MRI plane-based FiLM conditioning and patient dependent batching on semantic segmentation

open access: yesCurrent Directions in Biomedical Engineering
Lower back pain (LBP) is a common symptom that can be linked to the degeneration of intervertebral discs or injuries to vertebrae. Accurate segmentation of lumbar spinal structures is vital for image-based surgery planning but can be resource intensive ...

A Time Comparison of Computer-Assisted and Manual Bathymetric Processing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We describe an experiment designed to determine the time required to process Multibeam Echosounder (MBES) data using the CUBE (Combined Uncertainty and Bathymetry Estimator) [Calder & Mayer, 2003; Calder, 2003] and Navigation Surface [Smith et al., 2002;

Targeting rapid TKI‐induced AXL upregulation overcomes adaptive ERK reactivation and exerts antileukemic effects in FLT3/ITD acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 5, Page 1386-1403, May 2025.
Adaptive ERK reactivation hinders FLT3 tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) treatment in FLT3/ITD acute myeloid leukemia. Here, we report that FLT3 TKI treatment rapidly induces AXL expression and upregulation that is temporally associated with the adaptive ERK reactivation.

Computer-assisted design of organic synthesis [PDF]

open access: yes
The computer programs to design synthetic pathways of organic compounds have been utilized throughout the world since the first system was reported by Corey in 1969, and the LHASA was reported in1972 to become the predominant system.

Vertical inhibition of p110α/AKT and N‐cadherin enhances treatment efficacy in PIK3CA‐aberrated ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 4, Page 1132-1154, April 2025.
PIK3CA amplification and PIK3CA mutation enhance ovarian tumorigenicity through an activation of AKT, which phosphorylates YAP at Ser127. This Ser127 phosphorylation leads to the retention of YAP in the cytoplasm and triggers RAC1 activity, promoting cell migration. Additionally, AKT activation increases expression of N‐cadherin, which further enhances

Detection of flap malperfusion after microsurgical tissue reconstruction using hyperspectral imaging and machine learning

open access: yesScientific Reports
Hyperspectral imaging (HSI) has shown significant diagnostic potential for both intra- and postoperative perfusion assessment. The purpose of this study was to combine machine learning and neural networks with HSI to develop a method for detecting flap ...

Integrative systems‐level analysis reveals a contextual crosstalk between hypoxia and global metabolism in human breast tumors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast tumor samples scored for metabolic deregulation (M1 to M3) were given a hypoxia score (HS). The highest HS occurred in patients with strongest metabolic deregulation (M3), supporting tumor aggressiveness. HS correlated with the highest number of metabolic pathways in M1. This suggests hypoxia to be an early event in metabolic deregulation.
