Three of the most popular microcomputers, the TRS-80 Model I, the APPLE II+, and the IBM Personal Computer were connected to a spirometer for data acquisition and analysis. Simple programs were written which allow the collection, analysis and storage of the data produced during spirometry.

Over the past few years, a novel approach to understanding complex and uncertain problems has emerged. The central insight is to conceive of any model run on a computer as a computational experiment. Instead of constructing and running only the single model that we believe best represents the system in question (after making various assumptions and a ...

Information Storage and Retrieval, 1971
Abstract The paper describes a technique which enables an on line computer based information retrieval system to aid the indexers by selecting possible index terms to be assigned to a new document entering the system. The method analyses the index terms assigned to the references cited by the new article. This produces a list of index terms weighted

Computer-assisted surgery (CAS), a new navigation aid for skull-base surgery, is discussed. The system described combines 3-D coordinate measurement techniques, voxel processing methods, and pseudo-3-D image presentations to support preoperative planning of therapy, path-finding during the operation itself, and postoperative therapy control.

Computer Assisted Ventriculography
Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, 1978Computed tomography was performed following iothalamate meglumine (Conray) ventriculography in two cases of colloid cyst of the third ventricle. The application of this technique in the diagnosis of intraventricular mass lesions is discussed.

The largest change in spirometric pulmonary function testing in the last 10 years has been the introduction of the digital computer for data acquisition and reduction. Computer-assisted spirometry can enhance the effectiveness of spirometric testing by increasing test accuracy, increasing patient acceptance, and decreasing the time
