Iterative Approaches To Computer-Generated Holography*
Signal Recovery and Synthesis III, 1989Optics is playing an increasingly important role in the sensing, processing, and transmission of information. The elements that shape the wavefront at various points are a key part of any optical system. In many cases, computer-generated holograms (CGH’s) offer major advantages over conventional refractive optical elements in terms of size, weight, and

Computer generation of binary Fresnel holography
Applied Optics, 2011Binarization of Fresnel holograms by direct thresholding based on the polarity of the fringe pattern is studied. It is found that if the hologram is binarized (i.e., for black and white hologram pixels) in this manner, only the edges of the object are preserved in the reconstructed image. To alleviate the errors caused by binarization, the use of error

Computer-generated holography as a generic display technology
Computer, 2005Computer-generated holography technique is a powerful technology suitable for a wide range of display types, including 2D, stereoscopic, autostereoscopic, volumetric, and true 3D imaging. Computer-generated holography is an emerging technology, made possible by increasingly powerful computers, that avoids the interferometric recording step in ...

Full phase and amplitude control in computer-generated holography
Optics Letters, 2009We report what we believe to be the first realization of a computer-generated complex-valued hologram recorded in a single film of photoactive polymer. Complex-valued holograms give rise to a diffracted optical field with control over its amplitude and phase.

New approach to computer-generated holography
SPIE Proceedings, 1990A new fast approach to computer-generated holography for 3-D objects points in arbitrary positions in 3-D space is presented. The approach is based on fast computation of weighted zero-crossings their accumulation and thresholding to achieve a coded hologram to be physically generated. 1.

New method for computer-generated holography
Optical Society of America Annual Meeting, 1990A new method for computer-generated holography is introduced, based on stacking zero crossings of partial wavefields and then quantizing. A fast method for finding the zero crossings when each partial wavefield results from a point source in space is discussed.

Computer generated holography: novel procedure
Optics Communications, 1993Abstract It is shown that the spatially filtered image of a generalized wide slit can be used for synthesizing 1D complex amplitude distribution, in a similar fashion to computer generated holography.

Iterative Approaches To Computer Generated Holography
SPIE Proceedings, 1988The iterative alternating projections onto constraint sets (POCS) algorithm is applied to the design of computer-generated holograms (CGH's). The performance of the resulting CGH's is compared to those designed by the non-iterative error diffusion algorithm and direct binary search (DBS), which is another iterative technique. Both iterative methods are
