Morphological Reservoir Computing Hardware

2019 29th International Symposium on Power and Timing Modeling, Optimization and Simulation (PATMOS), 2019
In the recent years, Reservoir Computing arises as an emerging machine-learning technique that is highly suitable for time-series processing. In this work, we propose the implementation of reservoir computing systems in hardware via morphological neurons which make use of tropical algebra concepts that allow us to reduce the area cost in the neural ...

Hardware of structured brain computer

1998 Second International Conference. Knowledge-Based Intelligent Electronic Systems. Proceedings KES'98 (Cat. No.98EX111), 2002
We have proposed a two-level architecture for brain computing, where two levels are introduced for processing of meta-symbol. At Level 1 a conventional pattern recognition is performed, where neural computation is included, and its output gives the meta-symbol which is a symbol enlarged from a symbol to a kind of pattern.

Hardware Computation of the PageRank Eigenvector

2010 International Conference on Reconfigurable Computing and FPGAs, 2010
A hardware solver, implemented on an FPGA, for calculating the Page Rank eigenvector using the Power method is described. The critical operation is a very large sparse matrix by vector multiplication (SMVM). However, we show that the SMVM can be replaced with a pattern adder (a term coined to denote SMVM without multiplication), and a dense element by ...

Timing Analysis of Computer Hardware

IBM Journal of Research and Development, 1982
Timing Analysis is a design automation program that assists computer design engineers in locating problem timing in a clocked, sequential machine. The program is effective for large machines because, in part, the running time is proportional to the number of circuits.

Hardware Specialization for Distributed Computing

Proceedings of the 30th International Symposium on High-Performance Parallel and Distributed Computing, 2021
Several trends in the IT industry are driving an increasing specialization of the hardware layers. On the one hand, demanding workloads, large data volumes, diversity in data types, etc. are all factors contributing to make general purpose computing too inefficient.

Computer and information technology: Hardware

Journal of PeriAnesthesia Nursing, 1998
Computers open the door to an ever-expanding arena of knowledge and technology. Most nurses practicing in perianesthesia setting were educated before the computer era, and many fear computers and the associated technology. Frequently, the greatest difficulty is finding the resources and knowing what questions to ask.

Basics of Computer Hardware and Software

American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 1993
The basics of computer hardware and software are presented. A computer is a general-purpose electronic counting device used in data processing because of its accuracy and high speed. The physical components of a computer system are called the hardware, which includes the central processing unit and peripheral equipment for data input, output, and ...

Hardware aspects of secure computing

Proceedings of the May 5-7, 1970, spring joint computer conference on - AFIPS '70 (Spring), 1970
It makes no sense to discuss software for privacy-preserving or secure time-shared computing without considering the hardware on which it is to run. Software access controls rely upon certain pieces of hardware. If these can go dead or be deliberately disabled without warning, then all that remains is false security.

The Communications Computer Hardware of the MERIT Computer Network

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1972
Three Michigan universities are currently working on a project to evolve a network that will link their educational and research computing centers. This project requires the concurrent development of several interrelated technical activities, the most important of which are the network's specialized hardware, software for the network's communications ...
