Introduction to Computer-Aided Learning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
In modern times, technology has taken on a dominant role in many aspects of human life, and computeraided learning (CAL) is an educational tool that makes learning easier. By employing user interface (UI) design it is easy for students to access learning

Computer‐based laboratory simulation: Evaluations of student perceptions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Providing resources to meet the needs of oil workers who miss blocks of an engineering course was the motivation for producing computer‐based simulations of laboratory equipment. This paper reports on student perceptions of various aspects of the package.

Understanding cognitive activities in parametric design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Parametric design offers a new paradigm in the field of Computer-Aided Design; a paradigm focused on the potential for producing design variations. However, despite this potential, the cognitive activities associated with parametric design are not well ...

Merging enriched Finite Element triangle meshes for fast prototyping of alternate solutions in the context of industrial maintenance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A new approach to the merging of Finite Element (FE) triangle meshes is proposed. Not only it takes into account the geometric aspects, but it also considers the way the semantic information possibly associated to the groups of entities (nodes, faces ...

Self-Parameterization Based Multi-Resolution Mesh Convolution Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
This paper addresses the challenges of designing mesh convolution neural networks for 3D mesh dense prediction. While deep learning has achieved remarkable success in image dense prediction tasks, directly applying or extending these methods to irregular

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
