Computer simulation of shear flows of granular material [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
The purpose of this paper is to present results from computer simulations of Couette flows of granular materials and to examine the detailed rheological behavior inherent in these simulations. Comparison is made with the experimental results of Bagnold (

Computer simulation of uniformly heated granular fluids

open access: yes, 2000
Direct Monte Carlo simulations of the Enskog-Boltzmann equation for a spatially uniform system of smooth inelastic spheres are performed. In order to reach a steady state, the particles are assumed to be under the action of an external driving force ...

The Simulator: An Engine to Streamline Simulations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
The simulator is an R package that streamlines the process of performing simulations by creating a common infrastructure that can be easily used and reused across projects. Methodological statisticians routinely write simulations to compare their methods to preexisting ones.

Optimal saturated information load analysis for enhancing robustness in unmanned swarms system

open access: yesComplex & Intelligent Systems
Saturated information load is defined as the information received by a unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) node in a swarm network reaches the overload limit of its processing capability.

Orbits: Computer simulation [PDF]

open access: yes
In rotating machinery dynamics an orbit (Lissajous curve) represents the dynamic path of the shaft centerline motion during shaft rotation and resulting precession. The orbit can be observed with an oscilloscope connected to XY promixity probes.

Regional impacts of solar radiation modification on surface temperature and precipitation in Mainland Southeast Asia and the adjacent oceans

open access: yesScientific Reports
Solar radiation modification (SRM) has been proposed to temporarily reduce anthropogenic warming. This study presents an assessment of the regional impacts of SRM via solar dimming and stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI) on temperature and ...

COMPUTER SIMULATION AND COMPUTABILITY OF BIOLOGICAL SYSTEMS [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
The ability to simulate a biological organism by employing a computer is related to the ability of the computer to calculate the behavior of such a dynamical system, or the "computability" of the system.* However, the two questions of computability and ...

Robust quantum computation by simulation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1999
Simulation of quantum systems that provide intrinsically fault-tolerant quantum computation is shown to preserve fault tolerance. Errors committed in the course of simulation are eliminated by the natural error-correcting features of the systems simulated. Two examples are explored, toric codes and non-abelian anyons.
