Active Radiation-Hardening Strategy in Bulk FinFETs

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
In this article, we present a new method to mitigate the effect of the charge collected by trigate FinFET devices after an ionizing particle impact. The method is based on the creation of an internal structure that generates an electrical field that ...

On cooperation in multi-terminal computation and rate distortion [PDF]

open access: yes2012 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory Proceedings, 2012
A receiver wants to compute a function of two correlated sources separately observed by two transmitters. One of the transmitters may send a possibly private message to the other transmitter in a cooperation phase before both transmitters communicate to the receiver.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Internet terminals [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The College of Computer Studies (CCS) made another first in the history of the academe as it set up five INTERNET terminals at the lobby of the Gokongwei Hall. This was in line with DLSU\u27s thrust to be at the forefront of information technology and to

Pattern of visual display terminals usage and eye effects among primary school children in Egypt

open access: yesDelta Journal of Ophthalmology, 2018
Purpose The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of visual display terminals (VDTs) use among primary school children. Patients and methods A school-based prospective observational cross-sectional comparative study was carried out on two groups

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Voltage Reversal in Series-connected Three 1.5V AAA Alkaline Batteries

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2019
Discharge curves for three 1.5V AAA alkaline batteries, series-connected, were completed. The voltage across each battery as a function of time has been directly measured. For this purpose a specific measuring system has been built.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Understanding and evaluating visual guidance quality inside passenger terminals - a cognitive and quantified approach

open access: yesJournal of Asian Architecture and Building Engineering, 2019
Using the findings from visual cognitive psychology and computer vision, this study proposes a method that can predict how passenger visual attention to indoor visual guidance elements will affect the visual guidance quality inside passenger terminals. A
