Aiding and Training Novice Computer Users Online with Executable Documentation

Journal of Educational Technology Systems, 1986
In this article we describe a concept of “executable documentation” and a computer program implementation of the idea. This concept and program are useful tools in the introduction of new users to computer systems. In addition, the method is cheap and readily extended by expert and novice computer users for codifying the results of their own learning ...

Effects of training on Internet self-efficacy and computer user attitudes

Computers in Human Behavior, 2002
Abstract This article reports on the effects of training on Internet self-efficacy and computer user attitudes. Using a 17-item Internet self-efficacy scale and a 20-item computer user attitude scale in a sample of 189, the relationship between training and computer user attitude and Internet self-efficacy is examined. Survey responses were collected

Computer-Based Training for Deception Detection: What Users Want? [PDF]

open access: possible, 2004
Training humans in detecting deception is as much a difficult and important problem as detecting deception itself. A computer-based deception detection training system, Agent99 Trainer, was built with a goal to train humans to understand deception and detect deception more accurately.

Using a User-Centered Approach to Redesign the User Interface of a Computer-Based Surveyor Training Tool

Computing in Civil Engineering (2007), 2007
This paper summarizes an ongoing project regarding the development of SimuSurvey, a computer-based surveyor training tool. Since survey instruments are costly, surveyor trainers (usually college instructors) oftentimes face a challenge in maintaining and providing high-quality instruments for the class. SimuSurvey is a computer-based simulator which is

Computer self-efficacy, training effectiveness and user attitudes: An empirical study

Behaviour & Information Technology, 1999
Using 414 business undergraduates at two universities in the US, a 28-item computer self-efficacy scale is validated and used to examine the relationship between (a) training and computer self-efficacy and (b) user attitudes and computer self-efficacy. Survey responses were collected both at the beginning and end of an introductory computer course.

Musculoskeletal system disorders in computer users: Effectiveness of training and exercise programs

Journal of Back and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, 2004
Various musculoskeletal system disorders occur as a result of the use of computers, which have become an integral part of modern life. The most important among such disorders is known as cumulative trauma disorder (CTD). In this study, we attempt to investigate CTD's effects on daily life and the effectiveness of training and exercise programs in the ...

A computer aided learning package for training users and maintainers of medical equipment

Proceedings of 18th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 1996
A highly mobile work workforce, and the utilisation of a wide variety of ever increasing medical technology, necessitates more efficient, and standardised method of providing training in the use and maintenance of such devices.
