Global Assessment of Lake Surface Morphology and Its Impact on Water Volume Estimation

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Lake surface morphology, an essential yet underexplored feature of hydrological systems, remains poorly understood, including its effects on water volume estimation. This study investigates north‐south surface profiles of 147 lakes worldwide using ICESat‐

Improvement of upsetting process of four-beam workpieces based on computerized and physical modeling [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions, 2020
The method of upsetting of large ingots has been investigated in this work. The proposed method consists in upsetting of profiled workpieces with concave faces. An angle of the concave faces was 150°. A relative depth of the concave faces has been varied

Mechanoregulatory Effects of Cell‐Scale Microwells on Epithelial Cell Phenotype

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In small polycaprolactone microwells, A549 epithelial cells span well edges, in contrast to cells growing on flat substrates. Focal adhesion sites (yellow) concentrate at topographic boundaries, while cytoskeletal tension (magenta stress fibers) is transmitted to the nucleus (blue), reducing nuclear sphericity.

Optimal domain of $q$-concave operators and vector measure representation of $q$-concave Banach lattices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Given a Banach space valued $q$-concave linear operator $T$ defined on a $\sigma$-order continuous quasi-Banach function space, we provide a description of the optimal domain of $T$ preserving $q$-concavity, that is, the largest $\sigma$-order continuous

Sudakov-type minoration for log-concave vectors

open access: yes, 2014
We formulate and discuss a conjecture concerning lower bounds for norms of log-concave vectors, which generalizes the classical Sudakov minoration principle for Gaussian vectors.

Shaping of Biohybrid Functional Living Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates a strategy for shaping living mycelium into functional materials by directing its natural growth. Nanoparticles armor hyphae, micron‐scale particles entangle within the network, and printed hydrogel architectures steer expansion, creating defined geometries.

INTENSIVE THRESHING MECHANISM IMPROVEMENT

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2012
It is shown that the intensive threshing mechanism, containing the drum with smooth rasp bars an d the concave with a convex inlet and canting bars with flanges (_/ - shaped bars) without rods throughout the remaining exte nsion, may become more ...

Logarithmically-concave moment measures I

open access: yes, 2012
We discuss a certain Riemannian metric, related to the toric Kahler-Einstein equation, that is associated in a linearly-invariant manner with a given log-concave measure in R^n.
