Global Assessment of Lake Surface Morphology and Its Impact on Water Volume Estimation

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Lake surface morphology, an essential yet underexplored feature of hydrological systems, remains poorly understood, including its effects on water volume estimation. This study investigates north‐south surface profiles of 147 lakes worldwide using ICESat‐

New‐Era Polymer Thermoelectrics: Material Innovations, Doping Frontiers, Decoupling Strategies, and Unconventional Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The field of polymer thermoelectrics is entering a new era, featuring breakthroughs in addressing the conventional performance disparity between p‐type and n‐type polymers, pioneering doping frontiers, and sophisticated decoupling strategies. This review explores innovations in molecular design and superior stabilities, bridging the gap from ...

Effects of Shaft-end Length on the End-face Quality of Equal Diameter Shaft Formed with Cross Wedge Rolling from the Stepped Shaft

open access: yes工程科学与技术, 2018
With the continuous innovation of cross wedge rolling technology, its product range is also expanding. When the stepped shaft is formed to equal diameter shaft by the cross wedge rolling, the quality of the shaft end is directly affected by its length due ...

Pseudo-concave Integrals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The notion of Lehrer-concave integral is generalized taking instead of the usual arithmetical operations of addition and multiplication of reals more general real operations called pseudo-addition and pseudo-multiplication.

Elephant‐Skin‐Inspired Porous Cementitious Tiles with Programmable Crack Networks for Passive Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Elephant‐skin‐inspired crack networks are programmed in porous diatomaceous earth (DE)‐cement composites using substrate‐guided, stress‐concentration induced fracture. The resulting crack lattices act as capillary conduits that redistribute water, while the porous matrix stores moisture.

Droplet Electricity Generators With Maximized Energy Collection Zone Enabled by Aloe‐Inspired Midrib and Cuticle

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An Aloe‐pinspired droplet electricity generator (A‐DEG) overcomes the limited energy collection zone of conventional DEGs by guiding impact droplets through a channeling midrib and artificial cuticle. The channeling midrib induces uni‐directional droplet spreading, while the artificial cuticle on the midrib further reinforces this behavior through its ...

On singular sets of c-concave functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We prove that under quite general condition on a cost function c in R n the Hausdorff dimension of the singular set of a c-concave function has dimension at most n - 1. Our result applies for non-semiconcave cost functions and has applications in optimal

Improvement of upsetting process of four-beam workpieces based on computerized and physical modeling [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions, 2020
The method of upsetting of large ingots has been investigated in this work. The proposed method consists in upsetting of profiled workpieces with concave faces. An angle of the concave faces was 150°. A relative depth of the concave faces has been varied

A Super‐Adhesive Air Filter With Capillarity‐Mediated Spontaneous Particle Absorption via Dynamic Bond Exchange

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We address the inherently weak particle adhesion of conventional air filters by coating a dynamically crosslinked adhesive layer that delivers capillarity‐driven strong adhesion and particle absorption mediated by dynamic bond exchange. The resulting enhancement in particle adhesion enables efficient ultrafast (up to 20 m s−1) and omnidirectional ...

Concave microlens arrays with tunable curvature for enhanced photodegradation of organic pollutants in water: A non-contact approach

open access: yes, 2023
Solar-driven photodegradation for water treatment faces challenges such as low energy conversion rates, high maintenance costs, and over-sensitivity to the environment. In this study, we develop reusable concave microlens arrays (MLAs) for more efficient
