Dependence of stomatal conductance on leaf chlorophyll concentration and meteorological variables [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We examined the dependence of stomatal conductance on physiological properties and meteorological variables using a Jarvis-type stomatal conductance model that included a function representing leaf chlorophyll concentration as a physiological property ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Protecting and restoring habitat to help Australia’s threatened species adapt to climate change [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Summary for policy makers Australia’s biodiversity is threatened by climate change, but we currently know little about the scale of the threat or how to deploy on ground conservation actions to protect biodiversity against the changes expected.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Perubahan kadar hemoglobin akibat terapi kurkuminoid ekstrak rimpang kunyit dibandingkan natrium diklofenak pada penderita osteoartritis

open access: yesJurnal Gizi Klinik Indonesia, 2011
Background: In general, patients with osteoarthritis require long live treatments, especially anti-infammatory drugs. Non steroidal anti infammatory drugs are mostly follow by some side effects such as dyspepsia and gastrointestinal bleeding.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Globalisation, concentration and footloose firms: in search of the main cause of the declining labour share. [PDF]

open access: yes
Over the last two decades the share of national income which accrues to labour has followed a marked downward trend across a host of industrialised countries. This paper attempts to assess the importance of several potential causes of this phenomenon. We

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Pollutant Photodegradation Affected by Evaporative Water Concentration in a Climate Change Scenario

open access: yesMolecules
Evaporative water concentration takes place in arid or semi-arid environments when stationary water bodies, such as lakes or ponds, prevalently lose water by evaporation, which prevails over outflow or seepage into aquifers.
